I guess you could classify what recently happened to me as a paranormal experience--I don't know where else I would post it! Anyway, this happened to me while I was visiting my older sister in Boston--I'd gone to visit her for a few days back in October--and while I was there, she took me to see This Is It (which was terrific, by the way!)--well, we'd left her apartment early enough to go downtown and do a little shopping before having dinner and going to see the movie--after going to several stores, we wound up at Newbury Comics, where I'd purchased some CDs (including the soundtrack to the movie), and after I'd paid for my CDs and we looked around for another couple of minutes, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner--after we had dinner, we went to get on the subway to go to the movie theater, and here's where I had the experience! Anyhow, we're on the subway going to the theater, and somewhere along the route, the lights went off for a few seconds--and when they came back on, I could hear Thriller playing! I wasn't freaked out by it at all either--actually, I felt comforted--it was as if he was right there with us on the subway!
I think the thought of being stuck in a subway with him is the stuff of nightmares ! Just personal taste, I guess... I think I've had a number of what could be described as paranormal experiences. I couldn't be totally sure because they tend to happen so fast that I'm left thinking "wow - did that just happen or not ?". My several possible ghost encounters tend to fall into that category - I started a thread about those in the Alchemy & Accident forum for anyone interested. One interesting non-ghost experience - shared by a number of others - happened on the only time I visited the famous Glastonbury Tor [if there's anyone who doesn't know about it, just google it...] We climbed to the top on a blustery Autumn afternoon, and I was a little disapointed. Despite all its mystical reputation it felt kind of dead to me - no atmosphere, good or bad. So we descended the hill. Halfway down, whoosh - here comes the rain ! A sudden and intense shower. Then suddenly it was over, and the Sun came out and there, over the Tor, was not one but two rainbows ! I felt the site was saying "is that mystic enough for you then ? I have photos somewhere...
Last night I could not sleep because I heard whispering off and on all night. I could not make out what it was saying even though the words seemed kind of slow and drug out. It actually reminded me of LOTR when Galadriel was talking to Frodo in his head...sounded like that. A few months ago my lights were going off and on in each room for about a week until I finally did a cleansing. My girl is so used to seeing that kind of thing that she doesn't get scared anymore. Around the same time we were getting a drumming at the foot of our bed at night.
I am so used to them they don't reallybother me, either. There has been at least one ghost evrywhere I have lived (except one when I was very young- no experiences there), and only one place has had frightening spirits that I felt wanted to do us harm: When I was around 4 years old, I used to see shadow people in my room. They would walk around and talk amongst themselves though I could never hear what they were saying. My mom believed me, but thought they were harmless, so she told me to leave my nightlight on by my bed and they probably wouldn't come. She was wrong. This time they took notice of me. One came over and bent down over me and where the light touched his shoulder, it disappeared (just his shoulder- the rest of him was still there). I totally wigged and ran out of the room past them and into my parents' room. I woke up my mom and she let me sleep in bed with her and my dad, but as soon as I fell asleep, i had a nightmare that the one who bent over my bed came into their room and tried to drag me out of the bed. I woke up shaking and it woke up my parents again. They weren't happy, but what could they say? The next day, they prepared the guest room for me and I slept in there ever since. Not to say that room didn't have it's share of occurrances but never did I have that sinister feeling I experienced in my old bedroom... There could be a book written on all the scary shit that happened in that house- words written in ectoplasm, crashing noises when nothing was moved or broken, reptitive sounds that persisted even after the source of the sound was removed... once I was sleeping in the parents' bed to escape the spookies in MY room and ended up seeing an altogether different ghost in theirs (there went their theory I was doing it just so I could sleep with them). While the shadow ghosts were only loosely defined in their body outlines (they almost looked like they were wearing full body cloaks), the man I saw in my parents' room had a mop of curly hair and a mustache, though I only saw his slhouette move past a window and heard some faint footsteps. The shadowghosts made moreof a rustling noise, like they had tissue paper under their robes... I'm getting the willies remembering all of this stuff, because I haven't really thought about it in a while, but these experiences are pretty much the reason I'm so into the paranormal today. And like I said, most ghost stuff doesn't bother me- usually because I know I've been through worse.
I want to go ghost hunting sometime, partly because Im curious about it, the after life and all that.. but another part of me just likes to get creeped out
That would be fun... In my state near where my mom works they have a haunted penitentiary and I'd love to take a tour. That and it's a creepy little town to begin with. I spent nearly a day in the cemetery and it was a cool expirience.
My aunt told me a story the other day about how she and my uncle lived in an apartment (their first) and got a clock they kept on the nightstand. They both kept waking up at 3 am (common thing, I've heard- this was long before the Emily Rose movie came out, BTW), and then one night, the clock just stopped. Then it started ticking BACKWARDS. It ran backwards for two weeks before it righted itself. They eventually moved out of their own accord (they weren't scared, either- we're pretty tough people, lol), but they kept the clock and have never had another problem with it since. It's been years and it still works fine.
idk if this is paranormal but its strange,to me anyway.when i was in gradeschool a friend and i were having a contest to see who could hold their breath the longest.i wound up passing out and smacking my head on the tile floor.while i was out i saw a group of children dressed in very old style clothes (like pilgrim style) in a mist playing around a maypole (at the time i didnt know what a maypole was,i described it to grandmother and she told me what it was).they were laughing and having fun and when they saw me they started calling for me to stay with them and play forever. just then i came to from a teacher slapping me.for a couple years after i would hear my name being called when no one was around.would creep my mother out lol
I don't know if it's considered "paranormal," because I usually hear people describe ghostly encounters as such. Either way, I went to South Carolina after Christmas last year and I was taking pictures of the beach. I found something strange, though, when I looked at one of the pictures. There was a spot of light there, but it wasn't there when I looked at the area with my naked eye or when I looked at the image on the camera before I took the picture. I figured it was just a light spot from the sun, so I moved and got a different angle. Everyone thinks it's alien activity.
2 come to mind ghost hunters on the scfi channel and the english paranormal show on the travel channel
I like Ghost Adventures. I don't know how much of it I buy (or how much I buy any of them, really- the shows have to make money so they have to be at least partially fluff), but the guy that leads the team just cracks me up. Unlike Jay and Grant, this guy takes himself SUPER cereal, guise. Haha, he's a tool, but I love him.
I dream about really really mundane things and they happen later on. I wish I dreamt about important things...but I don't...LOL For instance, I dreamt over the weekend last weekend that my friend/coworker's boyfriend asked her to get his first, middle, and last name tattooed on her. I asked her about it on Monday and she couldn't believe I knew that. It just happened the night before and I hadn't talked to her since Friday. Also, I sometimes see orbs randomly. Also, at very mundane times, in very mundane places. Mostly, when I'm around certain people.
I was working in a new prison being built years ago. I was in a basement like tunnel that ran between the admin building and the tower complex. It was a very long tunnel, and i was the only one in it. I heard a Very loud pounding on the wall. The wall was 12" thick reinforced concrete, and underground. I thought to myself that it was someone above beating out a doorway opening with a sledge hammer. It was being done all around the prison as the security doors that arrived were bigger than the openings in the walls. They had to saw cut and then pound out the concrete. When i went upstairs there was nobody working on any doorways. I asked someone who was working above where i was if he'd heard any pounding. He said that he'd been there the whole time, and heard nothing. A week or so later, i was walking down a corridoor near the max security area. I felt someone grab my tool pouch from behind. It was enough to pull my right hip back some. I turned to see who it was, and there was no one there. I was talking about it at break and someone said that a clean up girl was taking a nap during lunch in a max holding cell, and got shoved enough to wake her. She refused to go back to that area ever again, he said. Then someone said that during the underground digging at the beginning of the job they found human bones. He said that the land had belonged to a farmer, or rancher years ago. They weren't sure if it was foul play, or just an old family burial thing. The land had been unused for decades. Edit: I had to go back down to that tunnel to do some work later. I didn't hear anything again, but i was creeped out just being down there! I was looking over my shoulder the whole time.
Well I've had a few experiences with ghosts. I've had scratching on my window (I know it doesn't sound paranormal but it was in the middle of winter and the backyard is fenced in so nothing would have been out there in the waist deep snow.) I've also been woken up to my bed shaking (believe me its not very pleasant!) There was a day when I was stressed out so I decided to take a drive (because it calms me down) and I'm just getting into the music and such when I look in my side mirror on the passengers side and see something running along side the truck. It disappeared in about 10 seconds. I've heard growling, having my name called, to banging on the walls/doors. Its kind of scary but it started to dull down for some reason. I just hope it stays that way.
A lot of paranormal occurrences happen mostly every time I roll. Lights at my local park start to flicker. As you pass under these garden pole lights they begin to turn off and as you walk away each one mysteriously turns back on. Once in my room while rolling with my girlfriend both of us felt a cold presence. Looked towards my closet, we traded thoughts of how we felt weird and suddenly from the top shelf a bag fell to the floor. We looked at each other in a chill scare. I have many more , these are just a few....
