I have been doing a bit of reading, and what I read says to not heat olive oil! It said I should use coconut oil because it's high saturated fat content when frying will prevent the fat from changing to trans fat... Does anyone know how hot I can safely heat olive oil?
Olive oil is ok for frying but I use sunflower oil as it can get really really hot and it won't burst into flames or anything like that xD I'm not sure if olive oil will do that but I just know sunflower oil can get alot hotter safer
Different oils have different "smoke points" you can research the smoke points online.....Avocado oil is great for salads, walnut oils, such.....cheap oil is ok to fry in....peanut oil is good for deep frying, has a high smoke point......Olive oil is good for frying too....extra virgin IMO is best on salads, veggies...
I always always use olive oil and have never had a problem with it. I tried grapeseed and a couple others and had problems with them so :/
My fav. is dark Sesame oil. If I liked it just a tiny bit more I would put it on both my raisin bran and ice cream.
Olive oil or rape seed oil are the best for health reasons. Both of those oils contain a high amount of mono-unsaturated fatty acids which are very good for you. If you like to burn off spices before frying vegetables i would recommend rape seed oil since olive oil gives off taste. If you want to fry at really high temperatures then peanut oil is resommended. Other oils such as sun flower oil or grape seed oil contain so much saturated fatty acids that you might as well fry things in lard. That is, it is not very healthy.
