so I work at as a telemarketer, most of these places have a policy which states no cell phone use on the callling-floor. Well, my buddy was on his last strike, lets put it this way though, some fucked up shit has happened to him and his wife the past week so there has been plenty of paranoia and stress going around for them. He gets a text when we get back from lunch, it was his wife saying someone broke into their house; well, our manager so him pull his phone out so they fired him on the spot! Well, he called 'cooperate' and pleaded for his job back, simply saying that he was turning his phone off after being back from lunch, cooperate said they would discuss it with jason (our shift manager) and most likely get him his job back. Today, Jason pulled me aside in his office, asked me to close his door and asked me 'guy to guy' if he was really texting or something. I explained to him the whole situation and that I thought it was bullshit that he was fired, the man has 5 fucking kids and a wife whom doesn't work! well, I go back to my cubicle and yet again I was called back into his office with the main manager telling me I had to write a statement of what I just told jason... so I did, because I thought my buddy already explained the situation... well after doing that, today I learned my buddy was about to get his job back and that he only said he was turning his phone off.... long story short... I just fucked my buddy out of his job.... I feel fucking horrible... [sorry for the rant, just needed to vent]
awww, man. that sucks. your friend shoulda gave you a heads up. it's not your fault. it was an honest mistake. sucks ass completely, but damn.
Something similar happened to me, and I quit my bullshit job in protest and joined AmeriCorps. I will never again work for a bastard, I will be broke and content. Don't take it to hard on yourself, you were trying to help your friend.
yeah, well I did honestly believe if I just flat out told Jason the truth then he'd go to bat for my buddy; I thought wrong. I knew my buddy told em that shit, but I thought he was coming clean when he called cooperate. Yeah, shoot, I told him if he needed anything, that he should just gimme a call. I don't wanna help cause I feel guilty, I just wanna help a friend. I hate to see people in situations like this. :\ damn, america...
