Ah well thats pretty fucked, unless your caught stealing or doing something seriously wrong you have to be given two weeks notice here.
nah you just give a two weeks notice if you're quitting and want to still get good word from that job when finding another job.
Well- it's just life here. If you're working for a reputable employer in a secure business and you're doing your job well then there's little reason to worry. Lots of big companies will give notice to people slated to be laid off... particularly to executives and management. Most jobs here are with smaller companies whose size exempts them from many laws designed to protect workers. Interesting that failing to give reasonable notice before quitting constitutes a black mark on a person's employment history and can be passed on to potential future employers seeking references.
my mom works at walmart, and she said 2 people got fired their were 2 bottles of water sitting on top of the soda machine, and these 2 people took them not thinking anything of it and they got fired
Yeah everywhere has its own system, I suppose there has to be concessions for such a large country, I mean our whole population is smaller than some cities So I suppose its alot easier to control/keep happy such a small populace.
When I was sixteen years old and working at a movie theater one summer I was fired over the phone. It was right after the July 4th holiday. I had to work that day and it was dead. The place was in a strip mall and I was working the front door as a ticket taker. The cashier was located right in front of me so I could see everything as people would come in. Well, as it started to get dark I walked outside to see if I could see any fireworks. Again, I would see any customers if they walked in. As I am standing there looking around the District Manager pulls up in his car. He came by often but not usually this late. He pulled up and asked me what I was doing. I told him. He parked his car and said that there were lots of other things I could be doing like checking light bulbs or something like that. Anyway, I worked out my shift and tried to look busy in an almost empty theater. The next day the manager calls me up and says, "Things are not working out, you're fired." and then hangs up the phone on me. Needless to say I was pissed. I drove down there and he said I got fired for fucking around. It was a very stupid thing to get fired over but that was what happend. It was bullshit. My responsibility was to stand there and take tickets from a cashier that was 5 feet away. I could see everything. I am still bitter over it I guess. Man, what a lame manager. The funny thing was a lot of my friends worked there so I was there all the time even after I got let go. That manager got fired himself not long after that himself. Then that whole company went belly up like a year later. What did I care.
There doesn't have to be this level of concessions to workplace conditions. I think much of the corporate friendly lack of regulation directly or indirectly stems from the deregulartory Reagan era in part made possible by the fairly deep recession of the late 70's. It's remarkable what people are willing to let go of when the threat is to take jobs elsewhere.
I've had 14 jobs. I've been fired from all of them for job abandonment. Not a great track record hahaha.
I wish I'd had only 14 jobs. lol I've had over 40 jobs, and I was fired from most of them. That's probably the main reason it's so hard for me to find jobs. haha hahahaha That has been suggested so many times on here, but it's still just as funny as the first time.
