    Indeedy.

It will become a case of 'sheep cry wolf' to the point that people will be getting into some serious harm and finding no help from anywhere or anybody.

The real reason that I think women want to blame the victim sometimes is fear. If you can convince yourself that only women who were "asking for it" get raped then you don't have to be afraid of getting raped yourself.

It is much more comforting to think that if you don't act slutty or go out to bars or look too sexy then you won't get raped. But the reality is that you could be innocently sitting in your house and someone could break in and rape you. You could be doing everything right, being safe, all of that and still get raped. But that is a very frightening thought. So I think when women blame the woman for getting raped, they are acting out of a place of fear.

  4. Rape is a very serious crime with lasting psychological consequences for the victim. The cases of "cry rape" and not knowing what you actually did the night before because you were hammered do nothing to help. Rape is a viscious, horrible crime committed by people who have absolutely no respect for the victim or themselves. Shot at dawn springs to mind.

I think many women put themselves at risk of rape from naivety and recklessness, this is just my observation.

I am not saying all cases are like this but most women I know who have been raped have gone out dressed in a miniskirt etc, got totally drunk, socialized with strangers then got raped.

Women drinking is a major factor in rape. Women need to take some responsibility for avoiding especially risky situations.

One woman I knew who always went around every night drunk and running around with random strangers, she came crying to my door saying she had been raped. I slammed the door in her face. Not my problem to put up with her drama.

But I feel very sorry for sensible women who don't put themselves in danger who get raped.

Wow, you slammed the door in her face? That is a pretty douche move whether it was "her fault" or not.

Well I slammed it so hard that it knocked her over backward, decapitating her. Her head slammed into the opposite wall, leaving a huge hole.

What really bothers me is the women who cry rape because they change their mind AFTER the fact. Or worse, I personally knew a woman who accused one of my best friends of rape because she willingly had sex with him, but later regretted it because she was mad at him for an entirely different reason. its women like that who ruin it for the rest of us. The poor guy's life was nearly ruined.

If people get raped while doing something stupid, they are partially responsible and should know so they can learn to avoid such behaviors.

I know a girl who's been raped many times. Aside from when she was a child, all the cases were completely avoidable. She was doing drugs with shady characters, or at a party where she didn't know anyone getting way too drunk, or accepting a ride from a complete stranger that pulled up to her at a bus stop and claimed to be inviting her "to a party".

The law did absolutely nothing in every instance.

agreed. There has to be a certain level of personal responsibility. Sure, no one has the right to take advantage of you, but damn, be smart!

raped multiple times? Jeez I've heard that before. Raped once or twice maybe, but after the third, forth, fifth time, you've gotta be doing something wrong, living in a bad neighborhood, or something. I know girls who claim to have been raped 8 times or more...

By that last time with the stranger in the car, she finally realized she was not avoiding clearly dangerous behaviors.
She's my sister's friend but she's my friend too really, we always toke with each other and my friends always smoke them up and they always smoke my friends up - but either way, we're more casual, so I don't really feel comfortable bringing it up... but I would definitely want to ask her about this otherwise.

And I never believed chicks on forums when they claimed to be raped a seemingly ridiculous amount of times, but after getting to know her a bit.. makes me wonder.
