Cheap hostels, camps to stay in BC?

Im planning to backpack to BC this summer, only once I get there I have no plans on the where abouts I will stay. Any suggestions of a place I could stay for cheap or somewhere I can legally pitch a tent without any problems?

i went to british columbia when i was very little...i remember it being really pretty. enjoy your trip! i would just look into camping in their parks. i would want to camp there myself even if i could afford a five-star hotel. the place is just made for it

 

There are lots of places to camp but sadly not too many hostels (there are a few in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island but not many smaller places have them), I would check out hostels.com and possibly a great option for you is couchsurfing.com! Good luck and have fun, BC is beautiful (I'd recommend Vancouver, Victoria or Nanaimo or anywhere on Vancouver Island which has hostels and great camping too, and Nelson is a really cool little hippie down surrounded by gorgeous nature)
