    yeah that's messed up

  3. These are really brave and dedicated young women who deserve to compete and be seen as the athletes that they are. I love the ski jumping and it takes a special type of person to come off that hill. Their campaign to compete at international level has to be supported.

that there is a world championship in women's ski jumping i think shows the popularity and importance of the sport....it would have been good to see the the men ski jumpers have some balls and boycott this years games.unrealistic maybe.anyway i think it will be added by 2014.new events and sports are added all the time...i agree ski jumping is a great sport.

"In February 2009the International Ski Federation made history by hosting a World Championship for Women's Ski Jumping" quote from the video, emphasis added.

This sport has just got to the world level LAST YEAR.
Of course the Olympics won't have it, yet.

"Since 1991, any new sport added to the program must include both genders." So misogynist.

There is nothing to suggest that this has anything to do with gender, and 20 of the IOC Members are women.

personally, i see the olympics as a highly expensive breeding program. bring the cream of the crop the world over to one place and let 'em at it. pretty ingenius, really. i approve.

and anywhere men get together in large groups to compete tends to bring out the less attractive, mysogynistic jokes in otherwise probably very decent guys. i think it's hormones.

at any rate, it's a good fight to fight and good luck to 'em. women's sports typically get the brush off and cheap shit, but that's no reason not to keep competing.

Woww. A girl holds the record nice. Mabey this is proof that male and female should be in the same competition. I don't see the problem with that, but there would be alot of male champions :p

I can only think of one female snowboarder that would possibly qualify for Men's tournaments at their current skill level (Queralt Castellet).
However, I think that having a separate Women's sports, gives female athletes less competition, and helps the divide worsen.

No what I mean is that if women and men had shared sports, I think the divide in skills would be less (especially after a lil bit of time), and having separate sports fosters the divide.

I think that was more clear that time, no?

ah. yeah. but i don't think it would narrow the gap at all. there's basic physiological differences in specific sports that require a division. however, i think a lotta sports could compete unisex.

I think it would - the body can go to extreme limits, and athletes push their bodies to new limits all the time, that's what competition is. If women athletes were given greater challenges, I think they would rise to the occasion.

Maybe, although I still kind of doubt it in all cases, but women would have to work a lot harder to get their bodies to that level than men would... which isn't exactly fair.

I find it irritating when someone think that men and women are biologically exactly the same and capable physically of the exact same things. It's just not true. We are different, get over it.
