Hey guys Just wondering what the rave/free party scene is like in the US. What sort of music is played, how big they get etc. Cheers
Well from what Ive gatherede from talking to many people here, basically its shite UK, the Netherlands or Czech seem to have the best teknivals, raves/free parties. Here in Ireland where I am theres a good underground rave scene, local 16k system out at the beach or in the woods usually
aw that sucks, I live in manchester so its pretty fucking awesome here. You'd think the states would be the perfect place. So much space
theres raves here in SoCal every weekend when around the san bernardino area, or even more. some are free all night, or a fee after like 9 (but the security guards check way too slowly so you cant get in quick enough), or some are just like 5$ to get in. people say they suck, but those peeps are stupid. of course it ain't no massive but hell, it's definitely good enough. on valentine's day there was a free one. they play house mainly, but there are sometimes two stages and sometimes they'll play drum&bass or dubstep but everyone leaves except the bros and bro hoes.
But are these in clubs or what? That still sounds shite to be honest, house :rofl: nah man, raves are free, or else theres a bucket by the system that drugs or money go into for the contributors. Look up czechtek Theres a good chance Ill be going to that this year, my friend will be djing there if word gets out of its location soon enough we will be going anyway The UK has always been the top dog for underground music and raves (uktek) so being in Ireland a lot of the scene floats across the pond. Also theres a lot of old english squatters and crusties living in West Cork so theres always been a good turnout, trying to hitch 2 hours into the middle of nowhere can be a pain in the ass though
The journey is one of the best parts. Makes you appreciate getting there all the more. As to paying I've heard of a few over here charging. I prefer the free aspect (not just the cost but the experience itself) I thought czechtek had stopped (or has it gone further under the radar). Either way Europe seems to be the place to be.
As far as I last heard Czechtek was in full swing this year but a completely different location, and yeah, very much low key I think. Uktek is gone now though isnt it? After all the raids?
no not clubs. they're venues like theaters, sometimes convention centers, and i just went last friday to a restaurant-like place where weddings have been. just depends on the venue the companies can get. as long as there is a good sound system, enough room, and plur, i dont give a fuck. calling them shitty is just stupid. unless you're calling house shitty then w/e. you probably dance teknotronik

Well calling them shitty is my opinion, go to a real free party and youll understand Nothing has the same atmosphere, if theres security then its a no no for me.
