Simple question... do you believe people when they say they're sex addicts? Personally, I think it's a B.S. excuse far too many people use to condone things like cheating. So they say, I can't help myself... I have a problem. And we're supposed to be sympathetic towards them. The truth is everyone is addicted to sex to a certain extent. It feels good and you can never get enough of it. I do believe sex addiction is a real addiction... but I believe it's far less common than what people claim.
I think there are legitimate sex addicts, just like there are legitimate alcoholics. I also think there are drunks and perverts who aren't addicts, but use that diagnosis as a reason not to deal with their own weaknesses.
There are people who have this problem, but they are rare. When politicians or celebrities use it as an excuse for behavior they were caught doing though, it is just that, an excuse. Well, an excuse, and a way to distract the masses away from whatever the issue was in the first place. That isn't to say that public figures can't suffer from this as a normal person could. Just that when they choose to use this to cover bad behavior, it is rarely true.
I think people can be addicted to the chase of sex with various people. Rarely, if at all, do you hear of people claiming to be "sex addicts" having sex with one person. Perhaps it isn't the sex at all.
lol, thats a really good point... Although I would imagine that there are a lot of people who would qualify as sex addicted that you would never know about, if they satisfied that addiction within the confines of their relationship.
Well if a 'sex addict' married a prude, then it could cause problems, but those problems are the result of choosing a poor partner, not being addicted to sex.
I'm a sex addict and never cheated. I tell women from the get go that I will not commit. Most of them run away because they are weak, codependent, pathetic beings.
