so ani's coming on the 30th and everyone i know is either not interested in going or broke. she's come here at least once a year for the past four years and i KEEP missing out. right now, i actually have enough money to buy a ticket so i said, screw everyone, i'm going alone! and i just ordered my ticket! sooo......YAY!!! I'M GONNA SEE ANI!!!!!! FINALLY!!!! i've never gone to a show alone before, though..... :-( ah, well......i'm sure i'll have a blast. so, who's seen ani? how was it?
I saw ani in b-town a few years ago and it was great. I may end up going to this show myself, we shall see.
did you see her at the flynn? i hear that at shows there, it's just seats, and you sit and that's it. no standing up or dancing or anything. i don't dance anyway, so that's not a big deal, but i do like to be able to wander about at shows.....it seems like a strange venue....
no - it was at the memorial, that is why I am hesitant to go. I saw phish at the flynn and though it was a fantastic show, I didn't particularly care for the uptight atmosphere of the place. I'm sure it will be good either way, but I myself like to wander as well - think I'll probably hold out for Hot Tuna opening up Higher Ground on the 2nd instead
yeah, i think it'll be a good show anyway. and jeph, i totally agree with you. i think it will be kind of exciting and liberating to finally go to a show alone. and it's ANI! it's gotta rock. hahaha.....i'm excited to the point of giddiness
i like going to shows alone, meeting up with people there is good but sometimes i just like to see were i end up at the end of the night
i've seen her twice.... once at the vancouver folk fest and once at a performance in the auditorium on campus... she's fantastic! Have a great time!
I saw Ani at the Warner in Erie PA...i think it was oct 1...same type of venue, old theatre, velvet seats bolted to the floor, so everytime Ive been to a show there, there is not a whole lot of standing...even at Jethro Tull regardless, that was the only time I had the pleasure of seeing her, and it was before the election, when there was still hope in all of our hearts!!! and, like Jeph, I went alone, ...I didnt know anybody who could afford the $28 ticket, I happened to get lucky. It was probably better that way because I got to really focus on the show, not running out for a beer!!
i saw her recently on the vote dammit tour in jacksonville, fla. the show was wonderful but no one was allowed to stand up so that was a downer. but she is absolutely amazing.. i mean, who cares if you go alone.. it's ANI
ive never got to see her but i sure want to one day soon i wanna catch her at a chill venue, i always hear people with complaints about her show ... not her, just the rules or whatever where they were at
I'm going to see her on December 5! I am so excited. I saw her in May & it was a great venue. It was a ballroom, you could walk alround, drink, etc. The venue I'm seeing her at this time though is like an old theatre, so we'll probably have to sit & watch the whole time unfortunately. I'm dragging some friends along. I would probably go alone to see her too though.
I've seen Ani a few times now... and shall be in attendance at her show in Raleigh on Dec. 7... It's at a rather large venue, tons and tons of room for dancing, so should be a good one. Anyone know what kind of performance she's doing for this tour? Is she playing with a band, going it solo, or doing something different? Last time I saw her it was just her on guitar and a guy on standup bass; really good but much more laid back.... everyone just sat back and watched unlike the other times I'd seen her where everyone was dancing....
ani fuckin' rocked and the flynn BLOWS!!! great show, great music, great poetry.....but it was such a shame about the choice of venue. i had a good time, though. loved her, but that's the last time i pay $36 for a show, especially a flynn show.
hey mountain girl! where are you in vt? im in lyndonville (near st johnsbury) i went to see ani on the 30th in burlington too. sucks that i just found this thread today or else we couldve met up. i got front row seat towards the left.... god, ani is so beautiful. it was awsome being so close to her. what did you think of dan berns as opener. i really liked his stuff. peace
oh, cool! i live in burlington. i was on the left, too. row L. yeah, dan bern was awesome! i'd never heard of him before, but i met someone there who's gonna burn me some of his CDs. so i'm psyched about that. it was a great show. ani is so beautiful. i was so happy to finally see her play. i didn't realize she'd cut off the dreadlocks. she looks so mature....all grown up. the guy playing bass, todd i think, he was rockin too!
thats sweet, my friend michaela is burning me some dan too. i really like her new hair cut, though i really liked the dreads... but its still the same beautiful ani. do you go to jam shows around burlington cuz it would be awesome to meet up with another chick into the scene. peace
