you said, "I could do that, which is true, but i think he would rather go with another girl!!" so if you think he'd drop you for another girl for making him wear a condom, imagine how fast he'd drop you when you get pregnant. sorry if that sounds harsh, but if he's as nice as you say he is, he would really have your best interests in mind. plus, it doesn't really sound like he respects your opinion. he's not the one that would have to carry a child or pay for an abortion. with insurance, the pill (i'm on yasmine) costs me $8/month. without insurance, it's $45/month. a pack of condoms is about $8... so if you're insured, the pill would save you a lot of money. especially if you plan on using more than 12 condoms in a month. if you're worried about the side effects, talk to you doctor.. s/he'll be able to recommend something that would work best for you (low dose, and one hormone vs. a combo). it might be worth trying. the health benefits for being on the pill are: it reduces your chances of ovarian cancer and endo, reduces your chances of pids, reduces your risk of ovarian cysts, and reduces your chances of anemia. it can reduce your chances if rectal and colon cancer, too... and it reduces your chances of fibro-something/cystic??? breast disease (which isn't cancerous). and obviously, it makes your period more regular. if you can't find magnums in the store, i'm sure you could always order them online. are you in the uk? http://www.condoms.freeserve.co.uk/trojancondoms.htm http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?id=1274 those were the first two sites i found. i've never ordered anything from either of them, so i don't know how reliable they are. but if nothing else, it's a good reference, so you know what the packaging looks like. and if you're not in the uk, the box might also look like this: http://www.drugstore.com/qxp69521_333181_sespider/trojan/magnum_xl_extra_large_lubricated_latex_condoms.htm
oh! even better... trojan gives out free samples on their website, and you can totally request a magnum xl for a sample! http://www.trojancondoms.com/freestuff/product/
when you first posted and said 6.5" by 6" my ego shrunk considerably and the whole condom being too tight made sense. now that i see you later posted a width of 2" (thank god) i'd have to say that there's no way to say that that's too tight. that's fairly close to average. that's how tight it's supposed to be.
Thanks lawngirl, im pretty new to the internet stuff so ordering from the net never ocurred to me!!! And by the way, when i said "he would leave me" etc etc i wasnt being serious - in fact he insists on wearing protection as i am not on the pill, its just that he finds it real uncomfortable. In fact, he would prefer, though not pushing, for to go on the pill, as you said. again thanks. yemforbin, did you think i meant 6" WIDE? are you insane - technically his penis would be square then! As for thickness, he is very thick for me, thicker than the previous, and you saying that 6" girth is close to average frankly is scary!
ohhhh word. i must have taken that out of context. whew! it's awesome that he's insisting on wearing a condom now. good work! lifestyles also has an xl condom. it doesn't have the fun gold foil, but personally, i trust lifestyles more than trojans. everyone's got different opinions on that, but if you're having trouble finding magnums in your area, you could just try another trusted brand. if you decide to use spermicide, be careful. to put it bluntly, spermicide can really tear your vagina up (which can increase your risk of stds). you definitely don't want to get pregnant, but you don't want to catch anything, either. i'm not trying to make you worry or make assumptions here... i know you said he was recently tested... but hiv, for example, might take up to six months to show up... and i believe std tests don't test for herpes, which you can have without symptoms, and can be spread even if you use a condom -- in the states, 1 in 5 adults and teens has herpes, AND 90% of the people infected do not know that they have it! anyway, again, i didn't say that to scare you, so i hope it doesn't... i just think it's always good to know as much as possible about it, especially if he's had unprotected sex and you plan on using spermicide. if nothing else, it's good for future reference. if his test came back clean, that's very awesome, and the fact that he got tested definitely shows responsibility on his part.
haha wow, 6 inches wide? every time he pulled out, it would be like birthing a sideways soda can. ouch! (well, it isn't Really comprable to birth... but you know what i mean).
Dont worry about it Lawn girl. We are responsible (mostly) and we certainly dont want babies or bugs! The trojan brand is amrerican and so not so common here in the uk. im looking at the possibility but im gonna jack this in and get him to do the work! besides theres this place that sells samplers of larger than average condoms (diff brands) so im gonna suggest this to him. I cant wait for the great care free sex!! You people been great! PS - IMAGINE a world were penises were 6"!!! human race would die!
There's a company I read about that makes custom-fit condoms. Not only would this solve the size problem, but they're supposed to feel better than regular condoms because of the perfect fit. The company's website is https://www.condomania.com. I checked, and it looks like they ship to the UK. Good luck.
Try going on the Durex website I'm sure that they give measurments for their jonnies, some are smaller than others! I went out with a HUGE bloke and he used to complain about some being too small! If he complains about them being hard to put on, you could do it for him! All men complain about condoms, if you feel uncomfotable about he pill don't do it, the pill can really fuck you up!
Going on the pill is just a good idea in general. My girlfriend was on the pill long before she lost her virginity, and she says that it helped regulate her period, as well as having a few other health benefits. We never use condoms, but I always pull out. We figure the pill with pulling out is good enough. We haven't had any problems for two years, and it makes the sex soooo much better.
If you are worried about remembering to take the pill you can get the shot. It's the same hormone and basically does the same thing it just lasts for months. I think it's every three or six months that you go in and get it. Plus many girls don't get their period. Depending on how you feel about that it can be a good option. You could also use the sponge/diaphram. They aren't as effective as the pill but women have been using them for years. The last time I was at a clinic I was told that they can tell right away if you have HIV or not. The new tests don't take 6 months to show anymore. Warts are another one that you (especially guys) can have without symptoms. They aren't as big a concern as other diseases but they are uncomfortable. Saje
I would just like to clear one thing up: FACT: There is a greater chance of a condom breaking than of the pill not working. Alex
The pill really fucked me up when I was on it. I had regular periods beforehand but the pill changed the day it came on, made it shorter (my period is already short anyway), my skin got quite bad and even though it wasn't really a high dose of estrogen it still made me sick and I ended up throwing it up a few times, thus making it completely ineffective anyway. You are suppposed to be on the pill for about 2 months before you can be pretty sure that you dont need to use anything else. I was looking forward to this but ubfortunately it didn't work out too well! so we have to settle for condoms, and my BF also finds them uncomfortable but we just keep trying different brands and diffferent textures and we do fine.
There are so many variations of pills. Your body is always changing and what may have worked for you 2 years ago isn't guaranteed to work now. Sometimes it takes trying many kinds of pills to get the right one. It takes a minimum of two weeks to be safe on the pill but most nurses/doctors recommend 1 month to be on the safe side. It takes a couple months on each type of pill to find out if your body is going to adjust to it or not. I was on a brand of pill which made me "spot" inbetween periods. That happened for two months and then never again. The Pill is more than 99% effective and the small percentage with whom it doesn't work is almost always (they want to say always but can't) because women don't take them properly. They are most effective if they are taken everyday with in the same time frame: ie. 10pm-12am The last I heard most women can take the pill within 12 hours (For example if you forgot the night before you can take it before 10am the next day) and not get pregnant. This is not the case for all women. This is a great article about the pill: http://www.yasmin-us.com/faq/howeffective.html This is a site about all birth control methods. The info looks good but I am wary about the source: http://www.orthoevra.com/birth-control/contraception-methods.html Obviously, I've spent a lot of time drilling my doctors and nurses and on the web. I'm a girl that likes to ask questions! Saje
Thank you everyone. You have been really thoughtful. We decided to get some custom made condoms; it should be pretty cool!. About 100 should do! The pill issue - i will reconsider it after Christmas and may give it a go. Again thank you everyone.
