we love road trips, Now from KY to NV buying land up there I've lived there before and it's great people just leave you alone. I had a nice garden there and apricot and apple trees plus there is plenty of deer and antelope we would of course get cows and stuff later this is our first trip with no kids and we want to have fun we live a laid back open lifestyle looking for like minded people to go with us I will know for sure dates by the end of the month

Have you picked the land yet?

    Wherebout's in NV?

    How many acres?

How far off from any sort of tourist areas where one could market crafts and wares? (And / or will there be any sort of internet access to market goods?)

What's the planned water source, city, rain collecting or well?

Enough land for a nice sized mini-farm or serious gardening in the plan?

What about trees, firewood etc? (If there are none, I'm sure you could find some variety of fast growing Acacia to fill the need)

And if you have picked a spot already, is there a decent scrapyard or auto junkyard nearby? (Blacksmithing skills / make my own tools & so-forth when needed.)

And are you looking to set this up as an actual commune or simply looking to buy some land and find some extra hands to set up and keep the place running smoothly?

I guess that's enough questions for now eh'?

wow ok well the land is near wendover trust me their is plenty of scrap wells are about 200' in the area not much for trees but I do love them it's 160 acres we are looking at now but if things go as planed we might be able to afford the 360 acre with water and trees but still not for sure on yet if something better available in that area (western states) we like liveing a secluded life and wouldn't mind sharing with like minded ppl but we ourselves wander a lot so we thought that would be a good home base and with the world the way it is we would want to help out others like our selves I collect rocks and gems and make crafts in my spare time and now I have a lot of time and it seems like they will never let me outa KY but we are thinking of doing some east coast rock and gem collecting before going west I know I can live anywhere and the earth will supply what I need they did it in the 1800's so why cant I shit if I cant trade these horses soon I'm thinking of building a wagon at least I wouldn't need gas for the trucks that break all the time it's all about money and I hate money you can look at a stone or log home built 100 years still standing but if you build it the way they do now it's junk in 20 years I dont know I liked it out there lots of space and things outdoors to do I've been a mom of five wandering the states by the grace of a greater power with no money for 6 years now and now my kids are gone I can live as far from town as I can

Certainly sound's interesting, about all I could put forth are my skills, knowledge and labor, but I am pretty freaking handy to have around.

I'm only about a state away from there, just south of death valley, kind of a dead end situation for me I've been feeling as of late. Lot's of talking on plans for gardening, building and further developing the property but not much in the way going on in the "get off our asses and do it" department.

Boss is hung up on that catch phrase "time is money" so rather than actually do anything we sit around and wait for business to improve at the hostel before we do anything as "out there" as putting in a garden or doing some creative landscaping etc... Just getting itchy for something different I guess (Or at least somewhere that the term "green living" is more than a catchy marketing phrase.).. Been bouncing about a little since the economy imploded. So once ya' have that deed make sure to shoot me a P.M. and maybe I can pitch in labor and so forth but I'm about down to nothing but know how, ambition and ideas at the moment.

Aint that the truth. Chin's not too down, it's just that this seemed like a place I'd be for a while, lot's of effort into planning and talking etc. just not allot of action. Still might happen I suppose, I'm just not holding my breath any longer and starting to look at any and all alternatives open to me at this point,,, ;)

Well thats pretty simple, no wheel's and more concerned with putting what little cash I'm coming across towards clothing and saving for a dremel with some diamond bits. Hitch hiking was never much of an option for me, 6'5" male, shaved head, folks dont seem too inclined to stop. :D

Yea, and my laptop's stuck at 800x600 resolution, almost like looking through a jewelers loop. :D

Pixia is a handy freeware tool for resizing stuff incase ya' dont have photoshop or anything of that nature. ;)

Ain't that the truth. Also nice is how when thing's start to sour, there are many opportunities to change the situation available if one only looks and is open to the various potentials.

And it looks like I might be off to Washington state possibly at some time in the future. Met an Incredible Woman who's been staying here at the Hostel for the past week and theres been much discussion about how She may kidnap me. We're just gonna' see how things go but there's some really good chemistry going on, hopefully more than just pheromones. :D

well buying the land fell through for now but we still plan on going I know some neat little camp spots are and I am still looking into some things but we are definitely going their are special rules out there about camping like you can get a yearly type thing I am looking into all possibility's now but anyone up for an adventure and warmer weather is welcome to come the option is still there for the land but I'd rather be there before I give up my money last time we lived there we had a great garden it's all about placement but be forewarned just because I plan something doesn't always mean it will happen I do plan on leaving but the destination my varry westward bound
