Some comercially available smoking blends do indeed work.

I tried the 'Naki Black' herbal hash from http://www.mindfuel.co.nz/euphoricherbs.html, I wasn,t expecting much but a small cone of this stuff knocked my socks off for about 3 hours.

The Spice smoking blend also worked very well.

I found the Wild dagga flowers to give a mild relaxing high, but if your looking for a Cannabis like kick you will probably be dissapointed. I think extracts of this stuff are in the Naki Black and Spice amonst other things.

The Yuba Gold is nothing special, but a good mixer to make your favourite herb go further.

Also worth checking out is Blue Lotus, its very mild, but very nice.

i don't know if this is a normal or healthy thing to do. i don't see why not. i read about someone trying it on erowid and decided to give it a shot, and i really like it. it can't be worse than smoking fucking cigarettes, so...

smoke yerba mate. the stuff that's used for tea. i love the smell and taste of the smoke, and it sounds like what you're looking for. it's calming, not too intense, makes you focus a little better, it definately alters your perception but it won't be hard to be normal or do productive things. i haven't experimented with it enough to be able to describe it accurately, but it's nice. and it's cheap.

the smell and taste is just absolutely magical. i can imagine it and i get a happy little love burst ^__^.

i actually prefer it over weed, it has a very different feeling and no paranoia. i don't get lazy, tired, or hungry. in fact... there's a combination of relaxation and energy, where you can be running around cleaning but completely floaty and ahhhhh.

Basically, some kind of work, but you need to smoke a lot of it, and they don't ever do much of anything.

It reminds me alot of that herbal ecstacy stuff that was going around. It really just contained ephedrine, which is more or less really awesome caffine which stimulates your mind. Herbal ecstacy is to real MDMA as Herbal "Highs" are to Marijuana.

For the most part, if it feels good and is very potent (in unextracted form) the government has banned it already. With maybe a few exceptions.

YES!! i love yerba mate, the best way for me to desrcibe it is like the feeling when you wake up one day and just feel excited and interested and content with what you're going to do today, i dont so much feel a physical buzz as i do a mental clarity, its more ike just being in a really good mood.
i love this combined with weedules.

so i think i would be interested in this... whats easier, brewing tea with yerba mate, or smoking it? if smoking, what exactly would i use? the same kind of loose leaves used in brewing the tea? or would i get something that was processed a little differently...?

First of all, I think handing a person a bowl of salvia without informing them first that they're about to be hit in the head by a train --is cruel.

Second *grin* since folks keep bitching about the lack of effects of smoking legal herbs. . . have y'all ever mixed these -legals with som ill-? Mugwort is the first I've ever tried mixing with my own stuff, and it produced mildly hallucinogenic(sp?)/psychic effects -and- it's a female-parts herb so my fun bits started contracting.. *cough*

I stumbled upon this thread today 'cause I'm about to off to the metaphys shop and buy some new herbs to mix in. Yeah, they're harsh, and yeah, they don't do much on their own. But I'm not a-smokin 'em on their own. :c) /$.02

The strongest herbal blends that were actually natural herbs had mild relaxing effects with the sense of well-being. It's a shame so many idiots expect to get rediculously high from them... There are other blends like Spice, but those contain synthetic canaboids which explains why you get rediculously high from them...
