Ok this is 'for real', no pipe dreams or unrealistic romancing - my wife and I are in the early stages of planning an co-housing community on the North Island. At this stage we are simply 'flying the flag' and looking for interested parties. Seeking serious minded people (but those who know how to enjoy themselves too of course ! Please be aware our timescale is approaching the three year mark and will involve **financial** commitments. L & BB, TC
Is this a 'we farm/whatever to make our own money' commune that's basically a self sufficient mini-village, or more of 'some hippies living in a cluster and making their resources communal' thing where we'd need outside income?
LOL - as it stands we are hoping to keep the exact ideas open for those who take part to shape it to their own will. However, to answer your question directly, we see it as a combination of the two; basically a farm that will be self-sufficient to a degree but in which folks would own their own 'plot' and finance their own lives as they see fit (within the limits of any obligations the community agrees communally)
Have you had much response from this forum? I have serious plans to do a one house commune of sorts in the Nelson area in the next year or two but i am at a loss to try and find a couple more people to join me on this venture. I wish you luck on your venture!
