Its an allegorical comic strip, in 2 part books, on the holocaust for those who dont know. I read the first book a bit back and found the second part in my sisters room the other day so decided to finally get around to reading it. i have to say that Maus is so brilliant.... its format, messages and importance. its so moving because it honeslty comes to life when youre reading it, especially because of the sketches....which makes it so powerful. it really drew me emotionally and got me thinking....
I think the second one is almost more interesting, because he addresses the truths he learned from his father, and how that clashes with so many others' personal truths, and how he has to deal with that as a cultural figure in the aftermath of it's publishing. Celebrity culture is so wierd, no one really able to understand people's actual roles in the world, like he is a storyteller, not a history text writer...strange
