im sorry but people earlier were raving at this film and so i dl it. i felt sick watching it! the characters were beating young kids and laughing at it. the guys were destroying thigns in tehir car, and threw a bowling ball into the back of another car. the people in that movie are violent and sick. some of them are such violent stoners! that hispanic guy or whoever he was! wtf! i was stonnned, and i hated this film. i just hated the way it almost promoted all this sort of violence, showing no form of remorse or moral at the end. this is the sort of film that censors should attack, not thigns with blood and gore and stuff. these sorts of films that portray believeable, but bad societyies or communities. now im sure lots of people like thsi film but after seing it i just felt really bad. also, there didnt seem to be any plot, which sometiems left me dazed and confused as to what the point of certain scenes were. but yeh thats my oppinion.
Yea man. I think the reason most people like it (I might be wrong though) is that it reminds them of how High School and Junior High was for them. Just kind of crazy adrenaline shit. All summed up into one night. America is definetly a weird place and it might have some dumb practices like hazing and vandalizing random shit; and you make a good point that people in the US take this as how society is and make no attempts to change it. I personally have done my parts in hazing. Throwing freshman into a swamp at track camp. But yea the paddeling has finally stopped around here.
its not part of the culture over here... all that happens here is that on a certain day near the end of the year, the year 12's (people leaving that year) do some sort of practical joke against the yr 11's (the year below). and theres not violence involved just lots of inconveniences and stuff. lots of eggs thrown at buildings and stuff, harmless in teh sceme of things. and at least then its against the year below, not kids heaps younger than them lol.
Tell me something Bill...lets say your at a party, having a great time...got your smoke on...got your game face on with a girl youve had a crush on...then some asshole comes up and spits in your face right infront of your entire school. What would you do? Do you put your tail inbetween your legs and run off, letting this asshole take your girl and show everyone how weak you are...or would you stick up for your self, leaving your name and self-respect intact? Dont get me worng im all for peace, i never start things, but I will end them. In this world there are times when you have to grow some ball and quit being such a wuss all the time...times when you have to stand up and fight for what you believe in...and that applys to everything, personal and political. I just really want to know what you guys are all about, what you think your going to achieve, why your so anti violent, and why you take everything so fucking serious? BTW, Dayzed is one of my all-time favorite movies, along with Trainspotting, Lock Stock, Fear and Loathing, and Fight club. I would give anything to live back in the day of Dayzed and Confused, and loved every part of that movie.
so you think bashing up completely defenceless kids is justified because if you didnt bash em up, you wouldnt be a man? all the violence was copletely unecessary. its not because its violent.. but because theres no justification behind it. if someones ridiculed you in front of your school fine. but youd realise that didnt happen in this movie. neither did anything that would justify hurting someone weaker than you. i dont take thigns more seriously than others, in fact i take thigns less serisouly, but i put more seriousness on thigns that matter, treating other people with violence. the ideas of self respect and stuff.. i mean how primitive and shallow do you want to be? if someone did that to me, id find a better way to pay em back like, piss in their car if their windo was left open, or throw a turd at them in front of the same people he spat at me in front of.
round were i come from shit like that dont happen, sum asshole wouldnt just randomly spit in ur face.... round here ppl have reasons for spittin in sum1 elses face an startin a fight, an if they have a reason then obviously you've done sumthin to deserve that humiliation......respect others an others will respect u..........peace but you do have a good film list Trainspotting, Lock Stock and Fight club are amazing films but u forgot Snatch an Pulp Fiction......there also amazin
bill, if u watched the movie you would see that those people that were participating in the hazing and violence were not the "good guys" in the film. You were supposed to hate them. I think Dazed and Confused is a really really good movie that in no way promotes violence. IF you really think it does i suggest u watch it again
I wasnt refering to the movie bill, i was refering to life. I realize thing are different here in the heart of San Diego than most places, but in your life...no matter where you live someone is going to cross you and finger you out and the peace love and anti violence crap isnt going to cut it. And self-respect being "primitive"?! Thats one of the most important things in life! Anarchist...Snatch is def. on my list...Bricktop is one..if not my favorite character of any movie...well Begbie from Train probably takes first place. Pulp was great but doesnt have what it takes to make my list. And you forgot about Gangs of New York and the Stoned Age.
america sucks 1.prescription drugged people with no emotion and always sad 2.drunk people who fight and cause havoc weed is looked down apun as something a bum or loser would do so most of america is in 2 catagories or 3 if u blaze
If i was the girl, I'd Knee the guy who spat in his face in the balls right infront of the whole school and then tell him to FUCK OFF! Its how we'd do it here. Oh and here, we dont hurt eachother, younger or older. You'd have to have done some pretty rough shit to get yourself beaten up, like spitting in someone elses face, thats horrible.
The movie isnt promoting violence, its just an extreme case of high school hazing. That shit doesnt happen that much anymore anyways. I personnally think that it is a great fucking movie.
What, your options are to run away, or to fight? Why not be a real man and stand up in a non-violent way? Think with your brain, not your fists. Being the bigger man doesn't mean kicking a smaller man's ass, it means not lowering yourself to that level. If someone spit in my face (forgetting the fact that like anarchist said, people don't do that randomly, I probably did something), I wouldn't allow the situation to make me lose my ideals. I'd rather talk it out, put the shit on the other guy, make everyone realize what a dick he is, rather than be a dick myself. I'd be willing to bet the girl would admire me being diplomatic rather than fighting. If the girl isn't impressed unless I fight, she's not the girl for me anyways. If in the end he hits me, then I might fight back. Anyways, this movie clearly makes the older guys look bad and mean, they aren't the heros of the story. But it is a depiction of life in high school, where the older guys pick on the younger ones (though like someone said, it's not nearly as prevalent anymore). Movies that reflect life in a real way, like this one, are good in my opinion. Being disturbed about it is what makes us want to change it. If the movie simply resolves everything in the end, people walk away from it feeling good. Leaving this violence unresolved leaves an unsettled feeling which can help people realize the error of their ways. In this one, young kids are being ass whooped by older kids (men, almost). It may make people watching it realize "damn, those kids I pick on have feelings, this isn't just a game..." Not that I think this movie is meant to be some sort of social outreach film, but I think that's why these movies are so embraced by people.
I love this movie for the basic fact it gives the feelin of bein young, dumb, and full of i could name a hundred movies that goin way beyound this for violence, language, and gore.
IT"S A MOVIE it's kinda sad that u choose a classic hippy movie to feel bad about what about all the other shit movies out there..that have way more violence and stuff.. HERE in america..hazing really does happen.. fights really do happen.. it is part of high school and growing up kids r mean to eachother... the movie doesn't have a plot..it's just the last day before summer break.. i luved that ben afleck, mathew macohohay(sp), and parker posing were all in that movie ......
