Good bars - preferably playing heavy metal music

Hi everyone,

I need some tips on some good bars please. Now everytime I get to Amsterdam for one reason or another we always seem to end up in Europub! Now, I don't mind the place and last time the bar staff were really nice and were entertaining to say the least, but I just need some tips on other places to go. Obviously we don't just stay in there - we go to some irish bars too and loads of other places I can't remember but nothing seems to stands out.. I LOVE heavy metal music so any pubs/bars that will help my cravings? My biggest nightmare is getting to a decent pub and then some crap like JLS/girls aloud/uk chart bollocks in general coming on... you know what I'm sayin.. I am after Metallica, Rammstein, GnR, Foo Fighters type stuff....

But please, if you have a fave bar please let me know of it and roughly where it is. Cheers, really appreciate any feedback xx

 

I went to Amsterdam and looked for similar sorts of things. I didn't find any bar that plays heavy music, but I remember googling it before I went there

There is one bar called Excalibur, if you find it and go there let me know what it was like wont ya?

Yeah cool - I've heard of Excalibur too and it's on my list to do

There's a bar called Planet Rock, also in the Red Light District - sounds good too. They have a VJ who plays metal and they welcome requests. I just pray to god it's still open!

 

Please anyone? Any decent bars out there?? They don't HAVE to play guitar based rock .. (but it would be nice)

 

Excalibur was definitely going to be my recommendation. Nice place. Lots of space (especially upstairs where the pool table(s) are. You can bring your own ganja in and smoke it while you drink / shoot pool which is a plus.....for me at least

cant believe no one metion THE MINDS great bar music is pink rock, love this place 1.60 for small beer

 

I suggest you check out "The Cave", its the bar I go to most weekends; extremely friendly people, great atmopshere, very decent music (usually góód metal and rock) and for the smokers; you can smoke inside which is rare nowadays here

The cave often has live bands on friday's and saturday's, when there are it costs 5 euro's to get in often but its worth it, they actually manage to get some good bands occasionally.

Its on the prinsegracht, very close to leidse plein which is very central in Amsterdam, so its easy to get there.
