Panama's probably in the Central time zone.

About the death toll in Iraq, it's bullshit.

A friend of the family was enlisted and worked as a nurse in a military hospital in Iraq. He was telling us that when the news was telling us statistics like "This week, 12 soldiers dies in Iraq" he was tending to HUNDREDS upon hundreds of bodies.

They play with numbers all the time...

But the reporting of the troop deaths is one of the less evil things that was done...

Look at all the emphasis given to the number of US troops dying... when it hit 2000 people were all freaked out... and yet 10's of thousands of iraq civilians had already died and were being ignored...

The soldiers who die, signed up and chose that risk... still sad that they died, but they went there with the knowledge it could happen.

Those civilians, woke up one day and were in the center of a war between their leaders and the people who supported their leaders for decades... and then they died...

I think the lack of a global conflict is the main reason nobody realizes World War III has begun.

If you have realised, care to elaborate or are you just happy with that soundbite?

It was sarcasm. I'm saying nobody thinks World War III has begun because there isn't currently a world war in progress.

Seems like it's really confined to America.

That all just seems so distant when you're out here. Definitely no war vibe down this end.

Yea, we're too busy being concerned with who had the better outfit at a retarded awards show, or taking interest in the love affairs of some random guy for no reason other than he's good at a sport and he's rich.

We do that? Guess that doesn't surprise me. Although I didn't think we were that into awards shows or celebrities. Sports people are more popular though I can't understand why. I kind of like the celebrity mentality thing here, damn straight they aren't any better than us.

That's what he told me. He's the only person I know who was in a position to know that, but he always could have been lying.

He claimed that the reported deaths of soldiers was total bullshit. And they completely ignored reporting of people who were maimed and disfigured.

Agh, there is a big difference between dead soldiers and soldiers that have been maimed and disfigured. There are thousands of soldiers that have been maimed and disfigured...and are not reported as widely as dead soldiers. It's sad but it plays into more prejudices if you talk of dead soldiers. The two can't be intertwined. You can find a rough guestimate, maybe even an accurate figure of soldiers that have been maimed and disfigured. I've seen a figure of 30000+ troops M or D.

I should point out that I know for a fact that this list isnt accurate... seems there has also been at least one Canadian soldier killed in Iraq as well even though most of our forces are and have been in Afghanistan... I'm looking for a better list

I know, I was saying on both fronts they were drastically under reported.
