    God is an unintelligible idea.

Got to have God to make the intelligible (against which we reason the meaning of unintelligible): unintelligible is the beginning of true Life, as such, a mere idea to believe in.

We don't need god for anything. God is useless as a being and as an idea. Except for Thor. Thor is the man. He could drink Yahweh under the table any day of the week, even on the sabbath. So all of you A-thorists better repent.

i believe in what i believe in, and to me, it has no bearing on my doing so, whether anyone else agrees that whether what i do is their idea of a god or not.

i am hugged affectionately by invisible things that have never caused me, nor anyone else as far as i know, the least slightest harm in any way or form.

No. to me its a silly outdated thought that should have died out. No need to hang onto imaginary friends.

I can understand believing in a very vague sort of god, a 'prime cause' as some say, but how can people in the modern world honestly believe in a particular deity with particular characteristics to the exclusion of all other particular deities? It seems incredibly irrational to hold such beliefs.

So the real question is , is it all the result of mans inquiring mind? We created the idea of a god and now we look at it and question the idea of god.

Think about it, the traits we give the idea of god are purely human. Would a god want his creation to bow down and worship him? Needing worship is a sign of insecurity. Little man complex. Would it really mean that much to you to make a doll out of wood and fix it so it bows down and says “ you’re the coolest , you’re the biggest , you’re the neatest guy out there”??? after a while your gonna get tired of your toy.

What do we know for sure. The only absolute constant I see in the universe is that everything is under a state of change. Change is the universal constant.

I think everyone should read this:

    Fictional, but nonetheless fascinating.

What do you mean by higher power? And how do you distinguish this from god?

I feel like "God" is something we go to in need. When we fear, want, and hope for things. I feel like god is a unrealistic image of hope, and faith. I have never felt protected by the image of god.

A higher power is something that gives us the tools to give us inner strength to do what needs to get done. You find your higher power through yourself... Not Sunday mass.

well, you know, the thing is, the rest of the universe does not need the humans of planet earth for anything either, and yet we still exist, or at least seem to.

now all these names like yahweh and thor, are just crap humans came up with. whatever is big, friendly and invisible is under no more obligation to resemble what i, or you, or any belief, or anything else, thinks they know about it.

even a gas cloud is still a PYSICAL form. something big, friendly and invisible is, if ANY of what is belied about it/him/her/them, is to be even close to, becomes extremely unlikely.

it doesn't have to BE infallible, omniscient, nor omnipotent either. just closer to all of those things then any other one thing that exists.

neither does every sentient invisible thing that isn't all that big or powerful have to be naughty or wish us harm either.

that whole "war between good and evil" thing, sounds like the same kind of scare tactic we've seen pseudo-conservatism use repeatedly ad nausium, in our own life times.

so yes, i believe there is something big, friendly, invisible, means well, may have a bit of an ego problem, but even that seems like something humans would come up with, doesn't micro-manage, and isn't obliged to conform to any system of belief on this or any other planet, but can and might help out a bit once in a while when it feels like it, is, at the very least capable of existing.

i really see no plausable evidence for something "close enough for government work", as the phrase goes, HAVING not to EXIST. just none for what christian, (and moslem, and perhaps some other), priesthoods, have tried to make of it either.

The idea of God is simply that there is good somewhere outside oneself, and we must have it.
