Anybody have some advice on how to prevent/help cure these? I already pee before and after sex but it's starting to anger me that I always have to be on those stinking horse pills and deal with all of the pain caused by a UTI, simply because I want to enjoy myself with the guy I'm currently dating.

I am an older woman and fortunately don't have that problem. You might try having the guy always wash his hands and his penis before sex. Be extra careful with the anal thing.
Try a health food/vitamin store and ask for advice. Go to some of the health and doctor sites [there is a womens health site-Womens Health Support Forums ( hope I can say that here)].
Drink cranberry juice, a good vitamin every day. IF you douche--ONLY use the medicated douches or the Vinigar and water douche. I buy the store brand vinigar adn water ones and then wash the container and make my own with a small amount of vinigar and water. Don't douche to often--my guy only wants me to douche after we have gone vag-anal-vag.
I am guessing that you are young and won't like the best advice---don't wear thongs and ONLY wear silk panties with a cotton crotch. If you are a moist woman, wear an absorbent panty shield all the time[except maybe when on a date where you think you may be intimate].
These things may sound pretty icky to a young woman, but through experience you will find out that all, some, or a combination will help.
Talk to your doc openly or talk to planned parenthood. And as I sad above try the Web MD site. Just googly them.

OK- so I tried to edit my last message, but couldn't. I can never spell vinegar right.

And another thought--try another bath soap. I once had a friend say that she had to change soaps and deorderants on a fairly regular basis because the PH of her or the soap were not compatible for any length of time.

Drink a big ass glass of cranberry juice every morning
I have had this problem much of my life (thank god it seems to have taken a vacay) but I can say from personal experience that some guys seemed to affect me more than others
    I have no idea why
Either way, I know it sucks
Drink a shitload of water and like I said drink cranberry juice
It helps balance out the alkaline levels in your urine I believe
    It helps anyways
    Good luck

i went back and forth with this problem for a long time. Did water all the time...cranberry juice, etc. Within the last couple of months I was diagnosed with a kidney infection and was prescribed levaquin. It actually knocked everything out and I have no had the problem since. So you might still have an infection that you haven't fully gotten rid of or he has something that he is giving back to you when you get rid of yours. I would also stick with peeing afterwards and wiping down with a wipe and possibly having him do the same before sex. It is unromantic and embarrassing at first but it eventually will just become a habit you both won't even think twice about. It is worth it to avoid the pain and frustration of having a UTI. I have been there so many times and it is the worse feeling, especially when you just can't do anything about it. Good luck :)

I have found the lubes can create the problem because they contain sugar (variation of). I use the O'my family brand of lubricant, it contains hemp. The flavored ones are good tasting for oral. System JO makes a good one for anal and they have a couple which are free of sugar.

Check your toys, I only use ilasomer free (not sure of the spelling), check them for stress cracks where bacteria can hide. I also found the more you pay for the toy the better, avoid the cheap stuff. Clean your toys after every use with a good toy cleaner; do not wash with soap it's too harsh on the toy.

Pjur makes personal wipes (a spray is alsso available) which is anti-bacterial and anti-viral. Great to wipe yourself and your partner off before, during and after sex. You don't have to run to bathroom and ruin the moment.

Doing all this has helped me eliminate the many UTIs I use to get all the time after sex. Good luck!

I had the same problem, and my doc only said too pee a little after intercourse, and I never had an UTI again.
