    does anyone else play?
i finally got my first uke the day before yesterday (three days before I leave Hawai'i, which is kind of my style)

he's a concert size and his name is portly.

i've been learning songs....especially as Portly is a temporary replacement for Seamus, my guitar.
So far I've pretty much got Rise (by Eddie Vedder), Girl (Beatles), Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Bruddah Iz), and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas all down.

i'm excited to wander the mainland uke in hand.
    :)

yea man! I love playin the uke. such a mellow instrument and you can take it pretty much everywhere. I unfortunately lost mine, but im hoping to get one during the holiday season so fingers crossed.

My uncle is a big uke player and has some cd's out so i used to mostly play his tunes, but its just fun strumming around on them, hummin a tune!

His name is Jamie Thomas. Chances are you haven't heard of him. It's not like he is a big star or anything, but he is popular in his community and the surrounding area, and actually had a song in the Tattoo which is a pretty large festival in Halifax, so that is an accomplishment i would say.

So i'm guessing you are tuning your uke like a guitar, rather than the classic uke tuning?
    Cheater...lol

    Don't waste your money.
At that price these are at best "USO's" (ukulele shaped objects)
Your gonna have to spend over 150$ to get into a halfway decent one,
    trust me.

Good job lol..How long does it take to learn a ukulele successfully? Not like mastering it but just familirizing with it enough to be able to whip it out and funk out
