Had to ride a bike 7 miles to New Haven then again back this morning, I was quite happy when I woke up and saw no snow.

The list summed up in one rule: Don't be different. Diversity is not welcome in redneck country.

I hate lists like this because it makes it sound as if all Southerners are in agreement on such issues. A more accurate divide than the Mason-Dixon Line would be a very contorted line separating rural Southern areas from all economically successful urban areas, North and South.

That's the only thing in this thread you have been right about. Lee wasn't feeling well that week, and his ill health combined with the kind of overconfidence that often comes with a long winning streak to produce a very bad decision, probably the worst of his long career.

That means you are north of NC.

    Virginia?

It was meant for humor, not to offend. :D I'm South of the Mason-Dixon Line. :)

You probably know why Maryland stayed in the Union. Federal troops in Baltimore prevented the state legislature from meeting to vote on it, to prevent DC from being cut off and surrounded. The US government could have been moved back to Philadelphia, but that would have been a humiliating event on the world stage.

People in some parts of georgia and tennessee, where I have lived and worked ,believe, recite and practice each item on that list. They also quite often ridicule anything and everything they don't understand or like.inorder too get along some people from the north, that moved south are heard telling others "I WAS BORN IN THE NORTH BUT I'VE BEEN CULTURED SINCE".
Well I was born in the south and have a heritage clear back to the cherokee in the smokey mountains, near maryville, and quite frankly this mind set is just wrong. We are AMERICAN first and anyone the has served in the military felt the brotherhood with all of their buddies. Southern, northern, western, eastern, white, black, red, yellow, etc.Right is right and list like this is just impolite and most certianly does not show the well bred manners of the southern ladies and gentlemen of my youth.

I really don't like a lot of US ideas and policys. ( I do pretty much hate most confederate ideas, but meh...) But when it comes to this, AMERICA, FUCK YEAH. like you said, gotta step over the fact that 150 years ago, the south had their head pulled out of their ass by the north.

The North didn't "pull the Souths head out of their ass." It was a hard fought war with northern public opinion turning in favor of southern secession in order to end the war. The men of the south believed in their cause and were good, brave men.

When the government refuses to listen to its people, what are they to do? The reason the Tea Party protests have gained so much popularity is because people are fed up, not only with democrats but republicans as well. Congressman are to serve the people, not the other way around. They earn way more than the average Joe and have many, many perks we do not.

The government was listening to the people in 1860, the north had 2 1/2 times the population of the south, 3 1/2 if you only count the south's free population. The south brought in it's own demise, despite the fact we were after Brazil the last country in the world to still have slavery the federal government had no intentions of stopping the instiutions, Lincoln's pledge pledge was to compromise to stop it's expansion to any more territories.

Same thing with the forced desegregation of schools in the 50's and the voting right act in the 60's, there's a reason the federal government is more powerful, sometimes the minority of people are jackasses and just very vocal and need to be told to shut up.

And the tea parties have every main stream conservative group behind them, they're not different. The very first set of tea parties around the country was a year ago, those were against government spending. Now it's been overrun by social conservatives who just hate Obama.

Regardless of what NY and CA think, this country is still a moderate-conservative nation. Obama is very liberal, hence the anger toward him from Tea Party protesters, both democrat and republican.

lol Obama is not very liberal at all. He doesn't even support gay marriage or the legalization of weed.

Well what makes Obama seriously liberal? Don't say stimulus spending, keynsian economics whether you agree with them or not has been a mainstay of western economics including the US since the 30's and 40's. Not health care either, we're the last first world country that doesn't find some kind of way to give health care to everyone. Even most third world countries constitutionally declare a right to health care, they just lack the means to implement it.
