    I saw the need for an edibles thread.

    maybe we can add other recipes for other "special" treats. :p

    I will start with the recipe for cannabis capsules that porkstock asked for.
    I wish i could post the link where i got the recipe, but for some reason it was taken down. I have made these capsules over 20 times, and they always work. we have had the discussion over the high heat the recipe calls for to extract the THC from the weed, and i have not done any research on this to clarify, but the recipe is as i will post.
    which is a coinkidink coz im making some today.
    kief capsules, roach weed caps, and regular caps. :sifone:

    you need some kind of hydrogenated oil. your choice of coconut oil, shortening, lard (tastes grooos), or butter. I prefer virgin coconut oil since it has a very faint taste of coconut, and you can get the taste of the weed, which i like but its pricey. you need to use a fat that becomes a solid when cooled, since it is just too messy to stuff caps with liquid.

    you will need:
    1.5 teaspoons of hydrogenated oil per gram of bud.
    the smallest nonstick pan you have
    candy thermometer
    gel caps, the size of your choice.

    heat the oil to 325 degrees F, when the temp peaks at 350, add bud. heat paste back up to 325, and remove from heat.
    you have to watch the temp closely. it is very easy to scorch. the paste should be a dark green color. if it turns brown, it is most likely ruined.
    you can strain the bud from the oil, but i usually don't.
    let cool until firm or for faster cooling, put in freezer for 20 min.

    be creative in how you stuff the cap. i have a good system, but dunno how to describe it.

    beware of weed headaches which can last for days if you eat too much and paranoia and giggle fits.
    the best size caps for swag pills is the "0" size. you get .5 grams per pill and 3 pills work for me, but i smoke quite a bit.

    determine how much you eat by the quality of bud you use.

    ive seen these sold at festivals, but i never purchased any because its wayyy to hard to know if what you're getting is good... or real, for that matter.

    looks cool though.

    you said you made some with roach weed?? do you get nasty roach-flavored burps?

    i watched a kid eat 2 roaches (paper and everything) at a party one time.. that must taste so horrible

    Yeah, thats why I make em myself. Its easier than baking for me. it takes all of 3 minutes to make.

    Yeah, the burps taste a little like roaches, but it isnt bad. Better than smoking it.

    I have eaten roaches, but only if i have to.

    A great trick is to "superman" joints.

    When you get down to the roach, throw it into the back of your throat while it's still lit, (but too small to smoke. Don't try with big joints)Band swallow immediately. You have to have spit back there. It's hard to describe but it looks quite impressive if you do it correctly. Especially at night.

    ok first the important part!

    somebody has to say it so here it is folks....

    bud butter!!!!!!!

    first myth, you need a lot of pot to make this....
    you can make it with one gram if thats all you got. only use headies people, its just not worth making with mids or beasters.

    i usually make one gram per dose, or per snack. i decide how many grams i am going to use and use butter (high fat content you can find) accordingly.

    first get a small sauce pan. fill it with an inch or two of water.

    grind up your buds and dump in in the boiling water.

    if you are making a whole recipe, use the reccomended amount of butter (sub butter for any oil the recipe calls for)

    if using partial recipe, dump buds in water, then add just enough butter to cover the surface area the bud takes up in the pot. in general less is more (my opinion anyway)

    heat on low for 45 mins to an hour.

    make sure there is water in the pot the whole time. this is to prevent the butter from getting too hot and cooking off the thc and cannabinoids and also prevents it from burning and tasting like asshole.

    i usually try to have most of the water boiled off by the end, but its not neccisary.

    once you are finished with this, its time to go mad scientist on this shit.

    get a plastic party cup and place cheesecloth (baking section of grocery store where the pots and pans and shit are) over the top of the cup. very slowly pour the mixture through the cloth to strain out the buds. i use vynal gloves (prevents latex alergy) to squeese the shit out of the cloth to get every last drop out.

    once you have it strained pop that cup in the fridge for a little bit. this makes the butter harden up and the water, underneath stay a liquid.

    poke a hole in the bottom of the cup so the water drains out and you are left with your butter.

    add to whatever you are going to add it to

    my awesome brownies.

    go to the grocery store, in the section where they sell premade pie crusts they have little mini 3 or 4 inch ones that come in a 4 pack.

    i make brownies, using bud butter, then i pour a small amount of brownie mix into the pie crust. just enough to coat the bottom.

    then add a spoonfull of peanut butter, flatten a bit, then cover the rest of the way with brownie mix.

    i then bake at 350, but i cook wreacklessly, so i cant tell you how long. just keep an eye on them. you know what brownies look like when they are done. i know you do.

    after they come out i let them cool, then drizzle a little bit of melted peanut butter on top, as well as a little bit of caramel ice cream shell topping.

    i go to an arts and crafts store, in the baking section i get boxes that they will fit in so i can package them individually so i dont keep touching them with dirty hands.

    then i throw them in the fridge to solidfy the shit i put on top.

    best part is that the pie crust comes in a foil bottom so you can put that shit in the oven for a few minutes then eat it with ice cream!


    i usually use at least one gram of headies per pie crust

    make your bud butter, however much you want.

    mix in with some peanut butter and some honey.

    the rest is basically up to you.

    i like oats, crushed up choco chip cookies, crushed up cinamin toast crunch, peanuts, toffee bits, raisins, get creative. add all the ingredients to the honey/pb/budbutter mixture so that it sticks together, but is somewhat dry to the touch.

    form balls and bag em up. either fridge or freezer works to keep these.


    this is a great edible because when you make it you can make it to your exact dreamsnack. just add a bunch of everything you love to eat, and enjoy.

    i dont know if any of you guys fuck with oil, but i also make a lot of candy recipes using that instead of budbutter, if anybody is interested in any of those let me know, but i'm not going to type all that out if nobody even has access or knows how to make good oil.

    ^Ive always wanted to make cannabis toffee (hard toffee)
    toffee is very easy to make, I just dont have a candy thermometer.. is it crucial that I use a candy thermometer??

    the candy thermomiter is ABSOLUTELY neccessary!

    i broke mine once and didnt feel like replacing it before continuing, and tried winging it and i ended up wasting all the oil i used. the difference of one or two degrees at certain temps will change wether or not your candy is soft and stringy or hard candy, or just straight out burnt if you are going for hard candy as your goal.

    don't buy a digital candy thermometer. i've never had one that made it past 2 uses. they usually make it through cooking, but have almost always broken during clean up due to water damage. they are also about twice as expensive as an analogue thermometer and much less reliable. plus you can pick up an analogue candy thermometer for about 5 dollars from the grocery store. these break fairly regularly as well, being clinked into things, again, usually during clean up. but they are much less expensive to replace and i feel are more reliable

    also with the hard toffee, my usual method to add the oil was once mixture reaches hard crack temp (i think thats 102 f, but it will say on a candy thermometer) take off of heat, then i add my oil, then do the cool down and pour into molds or whatever form the candy will be in.

    as far as dosage goes, i usually used a .02g of bho for around 15 - 20 fairly strong doses.

    i'd say use a little more if you use iso.

    I know this is the "accepted" method of making pot butter but I have another suggestion that does not require water and the cooling phase.

    It's very simple. Use a double boiler. It will cook it at a slightly higher temprature and keeps your butter from getting watered down. This way works much better. After you strain out the plant material using cheese cloth or a fine mesh strainer then you have ready to use butter. No waiting.

    If you don't have a double boiler then a sauce pot with a bowl on top works just as well.

    You only need to cook it for about 20 minutes.

    I use about a 1 gram to 1 ounce of butter ratio. However, an eighth to a stick is also fine.

    don't get me wrong though, braindecay's method sounds like it's down to a science
