I read the article on NORML how CBS refused an agreement for an ad in Times Square from NORML for marijuana reform because it is too political. But CBS will air an ad on tv for the non-profit org Focus On The Family for anti-abortion advocacy during the Super Bowl weekend. Funny. Also funny that the State Of The Union poll's top 3 most popular questions were all about marijuana, and it was never addressed. I think abortion is much more of an important conflict of morals than marijuana reform, so which one should be given more attention? the topic that certainly people can't agree on? or one that is less significant? insignificant things seems to be a lot more acceptable by people. I'm not saying it's more important than abortion, im questioning how people accept things based on facts and opinions. Unlike CBS, I believe everyone's voice should be heard, but it now just seems like both fact and opinion are just lost. Thought i had to share this cuz it got me fired up
i'll admit that that is pretty fucked up but it comes down to the fact that bickering about abortion.... a topic that NO MATTER WHAT, nobody will ever win (probably part of the reasoning behind its importance in just about every election) causes talk, causes people to relate to a candidate or politiician and probably produces more votes due to its discussion. it could be worse. it could be like msnbc who only air marijuana inc. 3 times a day to "teach" people how bad cannabis is. the truth is that obama ran on "change" but the only change we got was we lost a white bush and gained a black bush. at this point in time i think our only hope for true reform is in ron paul, but other politicians see this as well an do a pretty good job of silencing whatever he kicks to the senate for reform. at least he is getting it out there. even IF obama had any intention of touching the marijuana reform issue due to his shortcomings in just about every election promise he has made i'm sure he wont mess with it until his second term. i really doubt that anybody that doesn't run on the premise of marijuana reform would have enough balls to possibly throw away re-election due to the contraversial subject of no longer prosicuting such a large percentage of the american population. plus who needs tax on cannabis when we can just issue another bailout? another thing with the abortion to reform argument is that the politicians see it that people that care about abortion vote because of it. popular view on stoners is we are too lazy to vote. truth is though the only stoners i know who don't vote dont vote because we are felons, most of whom commited the heinous crime of possessing a harmless plant.
