we are part of the young democrats on campus and also have ties to the local urban league. through donations to the needy children, education of those stuck in poverty, and by giving away our time to help make sure the corrupt hand of the man does not make the lives of the unrich more miserable than it already is.

You're not stuck... go to a different university. Don't whine and play the victim because people around you don't believe the same things you do.

 

Wow, the OP brought tears to my eyes...never mind, I was sitting on a pin. I had lived and worked in Cartersville, Kennesaw, and Atlanta for 0ver 30 years before leaving in search of a less Liberal environment. Actually I left the country, and except for tax time (April 15) I am free at last. Although it has been attributed to various persons, I think the quote is accurate; "In democracy, people get the government they deserve."
