I AM SO SICK OF THE NAMES AVA AND ISABELLA!!! (Sorry. Had no where else to vent this, and since this is the parenting section where baby names are probably discussed, I figured it'd go here )... But seriously though, think of something else! It's frustrating having to be "Tall Jessica S #3" all throughout elementary school!
Lol Yeah but same gose for everyone I guess. Not many peopleare named rose and there were 3 in highschool...and we all had simalar features so people would always ask me if i was at that party...or whatever that rose said crap about so and so or whatever..and I was like dude..that wasn't me...
or, in this case, "tall Isabella S #3". have you seen the ghetto babynames, why? thread? In about 10 years, all the kids will be named "Tall Sage Rainbow P #14" because of all those lock-stepping idiots. Look at me! I'm being unique by being EXACTLY THE SAME AS EVERYBODY ELSE!
I know tis a great irony. But then this is just one board, with users spread over a wide area (ie the whole world) and a select minority group (ie hippys). So odds are each individual Rainbow (or whatever) would still be the only one in their highschool. Though your orginal point still stands It seems most parents seem too dumb to check a names popularity. Which is really not hard, just use this http://www.behindthename.com/top.html or just don't think about it or even care. My given name is ridiculousy common*, which sucks so badly. You can never be sure if someone means you or some other one (and yeah everyone knows another one) My brother's name is fairly 'classic' so he has similar problems. Though being a guy he doesn't care. I'm not going to ridiculously anal and inflict something stupidly far out on my offspring, just to prove a point. I'm not sure that years of correcting the spelling/pronounciation and/or general mockery is worth it. The names I like are unusual enough that my child will be the only one in their class with that name, but most people will have heard off, or at least be able to say/spell the name in question. The rest are relegated to middle names. *Something like the 11th most common female name in America.
I think I've got the best of both worlds. Most people have heard of, and know how to pronounce and spell my first name, but I was still the only Cassandra in my school. That's what I want for my kid(s) - a name that people have heard of, but that every Tom, Dick and Harry (or Jane, Susan and Sally ) doesn't have.
I will be really suprised if there are any other children that have the same name as mine when they're in school. Hugs...
I didn't realize that those names were so common. I have to admit that my husband and I had considered the name Isabella for a little while when I was pregnant with my twins (I have boy/girl twins). I think Isabella is a very pretty name, but, with having my daughter here and knowing who she really is, I don't think "Isabella" would have been a fitting name for her. I think the name that we chose just suites her more. Hugs...
When I named my son, Nicholas, I didn't know anyone else with that name-nor did I know anyone pregnant and planning on naming their baby that... He has two good friends in school (and both were on his football team, as well), with his name. His best friend, included. I have to refer to them by their last names, when they are together. The confusion can be comical at times...
