This forum is dead because everyone realized that this was the forum version of the o'reilly factor, or glen beck, or *liberal version of glen beck* (I know there is one, I just hear less bitching about it) you'll either agree or get yelled at until it's not worth the effort, no matter how correct you are, it doesn't matter, because more dogmatic shit will keep being heaped on, and it will not be allowed to die, until you just cease to give a shit, and then the yeller will claim victory so anyone who actually has any kind of intelligent opinion realized this cess pit was worthless long ago.
thats exactly what the problem is all you have to do now is get rid of skip i suppose you'd better to tell skip to get rid of the money counter for the war, it must be embarrassing to see that dogmatic stuff. the aim of the forums being bombarded with garbage was to shut them down - i see the virus has spread to other forums that dare to criticise the "new world order" in any shape or form. you have to admit, they were very organised they were able to shut down the politics very effectively by sheer weight of posts and vitriol. i spent some time away from here because i just had better things to do and as an experiment. it didn't surprise me that the forums were quiet when i returned. it was a point of interest to pick up a previous post that effectively hit the nail on the head. the forums were being attacked. the repsponse was to shut down threads that pointed this out and as a result they can look forward to another quiet time. it didn't surprise me that the various fanatics were still patrolling and still sinking debate on any debate that didn't suit their agenda. the trolls get ugly because they are trying to keep hate, torutre, genocide, crimes against humanity going - pure and simple, anyone sayign this isn't acceptable gets junked. good luck with your war - you've worked for it.
First I back up Aris 100%, both threads were going nowhere, one was moribund and the other was turning into another bitch fight between me and Hipstatic. Now until we get a sub-forum where we can send such threads to (so they can die natural deaths), a moderator’s choice is between close or delete, the lesser evil is to close. * The question to me is what is this forum for? In the past it was a place for lefties/liberals to come and not get swamped by right wing hecklers or be summarily banned. But what is its reason for being now, in a time when the right is less confident and assured? I mean they don’t seem to be actively seeking out leftie/liberal places to crow or convince anymore and they especially don’t seem to like places where they might be seriously challenged. So where do we go from here?
New idea, instead of arguing over why the politics forum sucks why don't we try arguing politics. Other people have no reason to come here when there's no activity to ever post on
It's not a big deal if we close threads. I mean, really. I've closed 2 threads in the past 3 months. And it's always a shit fest when I or Balbus do it. Which I think is very dramatic. It happens every single day that threads are closed here at HipForums, too many to even count in the history of HipForums, and people shouldn't take it personally. Especially if people take the time to make really great, informed and lengthy threads - I encourage you to keep doing so, because I don't close down debate or discussions when there is a good chance that they'll stay on course.
because if your opinion deviates from that of those few people who live here you'll get shouted down until it's no longer worth your time to retort, and they'll believe they've won. it's like asking someone to call rush limbaugh because they want to talk politics. it won't get anywhere.

[/QUOTE] the "right" wing has never been stronger the war in both iraq and afghanistan have never been stronger what is more dangerous is that obama has been propping the wars that under bush or the republicans in office, had been dying a natural death obama brought hope that the war could go on for much longer, he always makes sure that the money for the war keeps flowing, he might well turn up for a few coffins at the airport and salute them but for all of his efforts he might as well give the coffins the "bird". things have become worse becuase obama keeps the war going with giving nothing in return except "hope". obama was justy a very good talker who told us about hope whilst in his heart harboured a dark vision of the future that he could tell no one onthe campaign trail. he sorrounded himself with the same people that started the war. do you think obama will give a fig in his mansion about some soldier lying in the earth in arlington cemetry five years from now? unlikely the great political change was just rebranding the same old nonsense and hate that started the war in the first place.
I don't know why this forum died but it looks like the entire site is thread bare. There are over 175,000 people signed up on these forums and since I have been coming here it seems that just a hand full of people post anywhere. I thought maybe since Obama won the maybe people think "there,that it we have won" ,I don't know.But I know this, on conservative sights if ya say anything as to an opposing opinion you will be crucified promptly and completely. This is the best sight I have found for people to speak out without being hung out to dry.Sure ya may have to defend you view,but that is part of a conversation,until the name calling begins. Then one can simply stop replying and move on,that is what I do. This sub-culture began with all of us hiding in bedrooms and basements with towels under the doors,to prevent wafting,sharing and developing a plan that stopped the war machine in Vietnam.Today the country is very close to legalizing cannabis.The point is we came out of a movement of that thrived and encouraged controversy.Discussions opened our minds and challeged us to step out and at least attempt to change things. I learn from the young people on here,when they post, they are the "free thinkers"unclouded by years of being preached too. I really hope that this free speech forum continues,with it we do have a voice how ever small and without it, or something like it, well grab your towels and lets get back in the basement.:hide::ssmokeit:
