Madcap- I respect your frankness in dealing with this... it takes guts that aren't universal. All I can do is wish you well as you journey through this transition.

 

Thankfully I just have a pretty good sense of humor and don't really care what the haters think. The thing is there's a very large generational mindset and attitude difference(as there normally is between generations) between the older ones who transitioned late in life and the new young generation, like a serious difference. You can see it too on forums dedicated to this issue that are dominated by the older generation, they just give off a weird vibe to a lot of us younger ones, and honestly I don't think it helps, especially for the seriously younger. There's a serious lack of humor and different expectations of both self and society.

Like I know it didn't help me years ago. Honestly what helped the most in terms of other people(along with a lot of self reflection, but these people helped add that along) is the somethingawful forums, aside from here they're the main place I post, and being a comedy website(if anyone even reads the actual website anymore) the forums are basically the epitome of sarcastic jokes, and due to the mass amount of members and traffic the 2 threads on the transgendered are basically like mini forums in themselves. Not to insult the older generation but they just put a more human touch to it and I could finally be like "oh, these people are sarcastic assholes like me, we are in fact human and not freaks"

Also the fact, especially considering the stereotypes and the fact it's something most people don't encounter much, I like to educate!

Well a fact of life (as you may well know) is that everyone educates- whether they like it or not. I've run across a good enough number of your posts to where I tend to expect some uncanny wisdom for someone of your years. Yep- I'm older and as much as I try- life experience compels me to predetermine what substance to expect from certain age groups. People who react like that aren't likely to hang around and furnish any justification to such.... Frankly I'm quite please (but not particularly surprised) that the general response here has been honest curiosity which folks have given some effort to express respectfully. Folks who respond otherwise ultimately say quite a bit about themselves and nothing about that which they deem themselves fit to judge without bothering to try understanding the situation.

 

Oh I know he won't respond, though I wish he would. Again with having a good sense of humor, most people can only troll on the internet, I can literally troll people in real life just by existing. Like this place is pretty liberal so most people don't care one way or the other. lol I think is one of the psychological reasons we cause so much hate, people use to think transsexuals were in fact either the old guard who transitioned in later life and often can't get the same results out of surgery/hormones, or more specifically what you see on jerry springer, but they were always covinced they could never be "tricked"(because apparently some people really do believe the main purpose in life of every MtF is to trick straight men into being gay *epic implosion of logic*)

But now they're worried because they've realized that a lot do in fact pass for women, often attractive women, yet if it looks, sounds, talks, feels, smells and acts like a woman, then...................it's a man and you're going to catch the gay or the trans??? lol some men literally believe that last sentence, and will enforce it with violence and death to those who "tricked" them into being "gay". Some of us just threaten their precious sexuality so much. For example:
