If we spend our lives contemplating something that will never be truely evident then we miss out on the simple joys.
nicely put. WHy worry, when we can be free. Dig Aldous Huxley. QUote - "DOn't worry be happy." I still think X is a bunch of cruchy speedy trash that damages people's brains, and makes one puke, or two. But live and let live. WHy listen to Oakenfold or Digweed, some syntheitic music, on man made tweeky substance when one can smoke up, (made by Earth/God) and listen tio phish or the Dead, or the Stones, or pink FLoyd...organic, eartyh music. ANyway, you made a great point, and I totally agree wit yo post.
Hello, I'm delighted by the sight of planetary nebulars. A simple joy, like a wild flower . We can deduce the reason for such nebulars, we can deduce the reason for the reason and so on. But very quickly we come to a point where we can't deduce the reason anymore. It's not our incapability, it has physical reasons. For me that is one of the points where god come into play. And albeit we are knowing how planetary nebulars work, more or less, they are fascinating and joyful to observe. Regards Gyro
I disagree, i believe you are presenting a false dillema. Please show me how it is not possible to both contemplate God and appreciate simple joys. Personally I think it is possible.
Determinism , this negates free will, which makes our 'sins' beyond our control. So then, what's the point? Isn't worrying a conscious thing?
You are right, To quote the BIble (which I also might fear peppzz thibnking im a traitor to the hipuie race0, but "whereaz onc I was blinh now I can see" PEACE
I wouldn't say fool, but I agree that we shouldn't worry about anything because everything is ultimately in the control of God. :cheers2:
i had a two day stint with CHristianity. It didn't take. it seems God has evaded me, and his graces are not fruitfull. I don't think he doesn't exsist, but i got bills to pay and cant stop habits. I mike convert to Khabbalah, or just stay a secular humanist. It is nice for people who do belive, though, to know someone has their back, peace.
God's just another deadbeat dad. He gave Mary custody of Jesus so he wouldn't have to raise him. He didn't even pay child-support, for fuck's sake:tongue:
I agree with you 100%! Anyway... I don't trust and believe in a god... I believe in energy and that we all have to power to make our own destiny.
Hello, I call it god because I don't know it better. Perhaps it's god in a christian sense, perhaps it's energy. Perhaps it's something completely different or it's all the same. Or there is nothing at all. I don't know. But I know that 'oh I can do this or that. I know it's bad, but god would hinder me in doing it if it is really bad', 'I live a miserable life because god want it' or 'I do not need to do anything to change my situation, god will do all for me' are very bad excuses. I can believe that a higher being had started everything and gave us boundary conditions. And it might have joy watching us doing things and being creative in the given boundaries. OK, sometimes it might cry... I believe a huge part (everything?) of our fate is made by man and nature, not by some higher being playing with us. Taking the bible, for instance, in literal sense, like it's done earlier in this thread, isn't the way to go. Mankind has responsibility. Regards Gyro
I believe that some kind of a higher power probably exists, but I have no reason to trust him/her/it.
Totally agree Gyro... I have no idea what to call what I believe in either. But I definitely believe in self-responsibility.
