I'm not racist and see the man as a socialist, not a black man. I didn't care much for George W. Bush either. Give me a president who respects the constitution and states rights. Reagan was the last decent president we had.

    Fair enough.

    What's so "socialist" about him?

He's taken over the auto industry, the banking industry, and he's trying to take over health care. Government has no business in private industry. As I stated before, the federal government needs to read the constitution and remember its place in this union.

    Thanks.

    Steady on. Not quite.

    That's fair enough.
But he's only done what most countries have done.
    It's hardly socialism.

Government has been involved in private industry from the beginning, to believe otherwise is just silly...

As for the, if only the south had one... the only thing that would have changed is concerning the freeing of the slaves, so I question the whole 'its not racism' statement...

He is half white and half black. Many genetic scientists belive that race is a myth. We all descend from some sort of place in Africa, originally, and evoltion, and other factors are responsible for melanin changes. Thata why today everyone looks different. But in reality, somebodies skin color doesn't define them culturally, or othwerwise.

the war itself, sure. with the mention that one of the main reasons the south was fighting with the north was black slavery.
it should be mentioned that it is a very significant part in history.
However, it shouldn't be taught - as "this is racism, this is what they did, don't you DARE call a black man the N word, blablabla", because that leads to things, and if it wasn't so big in the picture, maybe, MAYBE it could die out a little.

Who am i kidding anyway. It'll never happen. And Racism will always live in our roots.

he doesn't look that black to me.

i always thought it was ironic people voting for him just cos he's black when they hated the other guy cos he was racist...

    lol.
if you can prove your 1/16 black over here you get free education and scholarships and housing and stuff. so as a result lots of white people are apparently indigenous.

I see. Yes. That makes sense. Thanks.

It might be in reference to his actual campaign strategy.

    However, Obama said:
Democrat presidential hopeful Barack Obama says rival John McCain's campaign has been cynical, not racist, in trying to raise fears about his candidacy.

Will have to wait for, ruski, to elaborate.

That war wasn't about blacks and slavery.

It was about western expansion, and the South wanting to spread their slaves into their newly captured land, Mexico. You really think the Wilmot Proviso wasn't a significant factor leading to the Civil War?

Not that i disagree with what Obama said, but do you think that if he did think McCain's campaign had hints of racism he would say?

White America would scream bloody murder if they thought that Obama was trying to use his race as a reason to vote for him.

Obama was very clever and had a balanced campaign that was appealing to a broad amount of Americans.

    :)

I think that Xac is right. Obama did use his charisma to appeal to many Aericans. I do like him, voted for him, and will again in 2012, but unlike W he is always apologizing for his views if he pisses the gays/christians/whoever off. However, Obama is without hate. W is analogous to a modern day Hitler, that just picked a Jew of another color, so to speak. The good thing is, even if McCain had won, nothing excpet for healthcare would be different. The two had good and bad attributes. However, Sarah Palin is a fuckin conservative racist redneck from Hell.
