Ikaruga - Project Radiant Silvergun 2 - Tribute

Time to breath the life of this cult classic into this sad excuse for a forum



Ikaruga is a vertical scrolling bullet hell shooter.
All enemy fighters in the game are either white/blue, or red/black, with the exception of some major enemies and bosses, who may be a combination of both. White/Blue ships shoot white/blue bullets, and vice versa. The player is in control of a special ship, Ikaruga, that is able to switch between either polarity at will. The catch is that your ship cannot be damaged by bullets of the same polarity. This leads to some very......interesting gameplay.
This game is heavily inspired by, and full of metaphors from Buddhist belief, symbolism and tradition.

Even the core gameplay mechanic is a direct nod to the school of duality.
There is a plot, although it is only located in the manual.
I will warn you now.
If you ever decide to play this, understand that this is probably the most difficult game ever to be created. You will die......a lot. The upside is that you may not mind dying so much because everything is going to look damn good while you are doing so.

Yeah one of my good friends on xbox live (who happens to be japanese) really likes this game, he has really good taste in games so yeah it must be good. I see him playing it on xbox even though that pic says only on gamecube.

I'm glad, now more people get to play the greatest game of all time
