So i have this story swirling around in my head but i don't really care to write out a complete book without having any sense of the steps to take to try and get it published. I have limited available time with school and work, and I also play music as well and probably would prefer to continue to pursue that since that's my passion. I made some so so music last year but I still felt it was an accomplishment and now I need some actual money to continue with the type of music that I want to do as I lack some of the hardware.

I am very appreciative of the internet for the fact I can explore all these different facets of artistry and creativity even if I don't end up on settling on one as a career.

Anyways I have an idea for this book in the meantime swirling in my head and I want to know how hard it is to get something published these days. Do a lot of authors start on the net like bands do that promote stuff on myspace or other sites? Any info would be appreciated.

If you want to get it published legitimately it will be a lot of hard work -- not something to be undertaken lightly. Of course, if you have some money you could self-publish, but that's not really going to get you anywhere in terms of... well, anything. You may as well print it off and sell it on the street corner.

Everybody has a book in his head.

Prove you can write it-- than we'll talk.
