I don't know how anybody can forget he's black, he reminds us of that fact every chance he get's, not that it mattres to anyone but him and his wife.. Peace
lol, I think hes just saying it because, well, It really wasn't THAT long ago that the 13th amendment was passed, and I think he was almost congratulating all the whites who have surpassed racism, and have accepted a black man into ruling their country. You gotta remember where the blacks stood before, terrible as it is, and I think he did raise a good statement in agreeing that America has overcome something very large and very different by means of racism. I don't think he was meaning, "He was doing good deeds? BY GOD! I forgot that man was black for a second!" lol, or who knows, maybe he was
people shouldnt be color blind... Obama is black and i'll deff never "forget" that no matter how good his speeches are. dumb >_<
If race was that big an issue anymore the man would not have become president. I think Chris was just trying to point out that he is happy that there is less issue in Washington over it now. I don't see anything wrong with his statements, He just found a way to bring up a touchy subject.
Personally, I think racism shouldn't even be taught anymore. I understand it was a big part within history and lots of people were enslaved, beaten, etc. but if we don't teach it anymore, maybe it somehow will disappear. Of course there will be some that will never forget, but if its not taught anymore to the younger generation, it will cease to exist.
I think your comment falls at the same hurdles as the person we are talking about. When was the last time racism was taught in school etc? It's ok, I do know what you mean I hope... Do you mean you wish that race wasn't so in our faces and the historical instances of racism and the surrounding issues were toned down a little?
heh, yeah. if it isn't taught in schools then maybe people wouldn't learn to be so racist, because they never learned what its like to be racist.
I'm actually confused by your comments then... What state schools teach racism? I'd have thought it was parents that bred racism into the hearts of their children...both black and whit etc.
alot of history, political science, and english classes teach what it was, is, books on how people were treated, black history month known in high schools, racism throughout america and bullying, etc. of course parents have a major impact, but they were taught the negative term and what it does to people, or some have grown up in a racist society. even movies have impact... Its just if we strive to not be as racist as we once were, why is it still accepted in the media and schools? If it wasn't so accepted, i'm sure it would die out much more than it already has.
Noela...I'm going to agree with you. I get your point now. I could pick it apart a little because it's a little befuddled...but I won't. I kinda agree with the thrust of what you are saying. Thanks.
I have no use for the man. He is attempting to destroy the union my fathers fought to protect. If only the South had won.
