I always get really depressed before my period. I feel completely down, cry at the tiniest things and have no energy or motivation at all.

I've been to the doctor but she just suggested anti depressants which I do not like at all...
I feel really lame right now! I can't even get motivated to prepare decent food and I just want to go sleep...

So does anyone have any ideas what I could do to help?

    :(

Sleep appears to be the innate suggestion.

ah, how i yearn for the ancient days when we could just hide in a little white hut for a week while the other villagers placed food outside the door for us! :D

see it as a time to focus on yourself, take care of yourself, even if that means having a crying spell, binging on chocolate and then falling asleep - try and use this time to rest and recharge

I always feel exactly the same. Just meh. Give in to the sleep. It will help so much. Keep up on your vitamins, eat more bananas, and drink lots of water. Tell them to FUCK OFF with their anti depressants.

And if you start to feel depressed, take the situation into consideration. I always ask myself if I would feel this way without the pms. The answer is usually no, then I feel better and go back to sleep. :)

Oh yeah- And your doctor is either flat out lazy, or she's in bed with the pharmaceutical companies because SHE should have mentioned the above suggestions and told you to excercise more, as well. But, as usual they throw the meds down our throats. Grrrr

you may have pmdd. which from what i understanf is like INTENSE pms. Idont think its really too much to worry about. There are certain birth control pills that help with pmdd.

i agree with the idea of.. crying lots (because you may find itll make you tired and help you sleep, it does for me), eating choccy, or bingeing in front of a girly film with pizza, choc, munchies.. whatever. just pamper yourself, soak in the tub, go get yer hair done or whatever =]
