To sum it up, I think what Obama really wanted to say was "yo, fuck the senate" Other highlights though -Calling the democrats out on being pussies and the republicans for being obstructionist assholes. -Repealing don't ask don't tell, which was weird cause everyone including republicans were clapping except the generals -the pissed off look on 5 of the supreme court judges faces when he said they had made a terrible mistake last week -The groaning from one side of the chamber when he mentioned the overwhelming evidence of global warming -the whole america fuck yea bit, saying america won't be 2nd, and calling out europe and china as having the fastest trains, so you best damn believe we'll have the fastest trains by next year.
well i didn't watch but i am looking over the transcript... for one, he is understating the unemployment rate but i'm glad he says that jobs are the number one priority for this year.. although i think the economy is still going to shit so it doesn't really matter. i like the exports goal; i think that's ambitious. we need to become more of a producer state. we have more gov't employees right now than goods-producing workers.. these 2 numbers recently intersected... not a good thing i think the budget freeze is a good idea also. and i'll continue to feel this way for as long as the two-party system rules this country.
I hate having just basic cable sometimes...I always feel out of the loops.Where can I watch it online?
my online feeds kept cutting in and out, but i like the way the whole "making the banks pay back the money they owe us for bailing them out" thing sounds, if thats actually how it works. especially if part of that gets fed into loans for small business. rebates for people building efficiently sounds good too, i do plan on building a cob house, so maybe part of that stuff will smooth my path. i doubt he sits up in bed at night reading the letters people send. on a side note with 'helping the environment' stuff, i recently watched a documentary called Global Dimming, which was really enlightening. we have to slow global warming before we work on global dimming, otherwise we will exacerbate the global warming trend and cook our little human butts. very interesting stuff.
well i would, but i suspect most of the time its just to say that they did read letters. if i send him a letter, d'ya think he'll help me buy a farm?
I have to agree the two party system just keeps it government through adversary. It's always one side aginst the other and we never get anything done. Our country is not based upon liberals and conservatives but that is what it is becoming. Again this is what you get for having lawyers run our country. They are to used to all the legal bullshit of defending one side or the other. It will be if not already our ruin. We are never going to move forward if we can't work together. I don't watch the state of the Onion because it's just like the campain speach all lies with little result.
two party system is not side vs. side.. they are all working for the same people.. themselves and the corporations. neither of the two parties are "of the people" or "for the people." it's all about money and power and it's bullshit.
