What is "cool"?

To be cool is a lesser version of acting in a cold manner, that is, closer to neutral.

Because it is easiest and least suspicious to act cool towards people, or calm and neutral, when on drugs or doing other illegal things, being "cool" became a good thing, and so "cool" started meaning doing a good job at things besides keeping your cool in a tense situation.

Or I'm pretty sure that's the idea anyway, I always assumed that.

 

nicely stated. i think it's evolved a bit, though, to include a whole lotta nebulous nonsense about why those popular people are popular. turns out they're sociopaths.
