Before i used to see substances "drugs" as ways of just getting high and "distorting" my perception. But through my experiences I have learned that they are manifestations of consciousness and perception. I no longer take drugs to get "high" (Im always high :D) but to manifest a certain state of consciousness. I love mushrooms for such, because there are predictable to a certain stage or until I attain the perception i wish to reach and then i work from there. I would elucidate more but im not finding the right words to describe it at this moment :p

to clarify i meant that people who seem to demean people who take drugs have no idea drugs are used not just to trip but to experience and have something happen and sure you can live life sober but my point is what is life when you are not willing to open your mind to new experiences even if and when it involves drugs

I think we should also test abusive parents, poor living conditions, lack of opportunities for higher education, etc.. (adding to your quote)

and there's a good chance you never will... :)

experience - including that of involving 'drugs' - is something that you can really only EXPERIENCE. talking about it doesn't really do much because understanding the other person doesn't always happen to its full potential. but if you experience something, you fully get it, at least (usually... this is where your state of perception would come into play)

it's fun to talk about experiences from tripping and such, but if you're attempting to describe it to someone who's never done it, chances are they wont really know at all. they can assume things based on the other person's experience of it and therefore only 'know' what it's like through their perception. it's second-hand info, at best.

so EXPERIENCE everything directly. and do it all the time. :)

to one of the other original points:
i think its important to realize the utility of whatever drug you're wanting to try. if it doesnt really have one, there's not much reason to do it (which also imlies that it probably has certain negative effect, as well).

and if you do get into more and more things, be careful. certain 'innocent' mixes of drugs can actually do a lot of harm. look out for yourself and the people around you

    We are stories being written.

Standing in Washington Square. It is 3 am. The cocaine is coming off hard. I have a handful of bills. The last of my money. I had been drinking for weeks and ... crack.
This was the beginning of my rebirth, when I failed completely as a human being and looked at myself and what I was becoming with a loathing rage.

I smoke weed and drop cid, do E, but I never mess with "hard" drugs anymore. Conciousness-expanding, yes. But speed? crack? meth? heroine? ...

Then again, I've also taken research chemicals, so I suppose there is a line.

One just has to research what they are going to take and be willing to walk that line.

Addiction is a nasty thing, so I stay away from all the addictive drugs now. Most psychedelics are safe in my opinion, weed is good, drugs in their natural form (ie chewing coca leaves) are usually safer than the refined man-made stuff, but then again I'll eat lsd over mushrooms anyday.

Stories? About drugs? You can get high. You can also get low. You can also get hooked. You can also grow wings and sprout a fish tail and swim through consciousness and look at the world in amazing and new ways and still be a productive member of society.

To do? Or not? Is that the question? The mirror is the self, what does it answer? What do you want to walk through?

I had to go through a personal hell in order to find my heaven. Maybe you do as well. Maybe not. Drugs are fun, drugs are deep, they can also really mess up your life. Be smart about what you choose to get into, for sure.

I have shared the experience through words yes, more so remembered, "relived" the experience through another and they could "understand" it, but the experience itself remained uniquely in my past> Present <future.

i beleive evryone who has psted something on this board thus far know what they are talking about and yes i don't encourage the use of hard drugs and being safe is key here but yes some people experiment and others don't the point and the fact of the matter is live life and experiment 1 path will take us 1 way and the other could change our lives, just remember when you experiment know your consequences and know that you could go anywhere and or in any direction and people who have never done drugs or even experimented for that matter have no right to demean people because they have not seen or experience things mnifested or created or experienced any form of altered state when using drugs or experimenting
