i have experience it in dreams you are open and your minds asleep so you can travel where you want to.
....mind awake, body asleep. i dont understand the need to speak to the dead though, other than for resolution.
I was holding on to my grandfathers hand when he passed away and even before that i felt more close to him than i did with anyone else in my family. and i still was very attached to his energy the few weeks after he passed away. He would take me on a journeys and show me intense realizations in visions and in dreams.

my wife, who died less then a year ago, often comes around in a good way, even when i'm awake. and i'm not the only one who feels or experiences this. my dad who passed away almost 20 years ago (and before i met or married her), very rarely shows up in them, but occasionally has. most of the people i meet in my dreams, when i meet anyone in them at all, are not people i've ever physically met in this life, though the sometimes resemble combinations of several. my dreams, mostly what i dream about, doesn't directly involve human or other people at all. sometimes i meet people in them. sometimes i don't. very rarely also, but sometimes, i meet my spirit guides. i met them in real life one day when i was very young and not actually doing anything to look for them. they just appeared physically to me, and my dad who was with me, but not right next to me, at the time, saw this also, though i doubt he realized at the time this is what that was. when they appeared to me in a dream, they were just like this old indigenous couple that despite looking like ordinary humans, at the same time were actually them. but invisible spirit people i am sometimes hugged by. as often when i'm awake as when i'm dreaming.
My mother, when she was pregnant with me, was very worried about my health and the pregancy. I was the second child, but something made her worry. One night, she had a dream that she was talking to her Grandmother who had died many years before, who told her that she was having a baby girl (my mother had no idea what sex she the baby was at that time) and that I would be born a very healthy baby. And it turned out to be true. My mother now believes that those who have died are still able to reach and help us.
I think this is totally possible. I have had three experiences (that I remember) where something like this occurred. However, I never dreamed I was actually talking to the person after I knew they were dead and talking about things knowing we were connecting through the veil. My experiences involved having regular dreams about the person only to find out within one to two days they have died or having a normal dream with them involved to find out that the person had died a few days before then and I was just informed. Probably not the same thing you are talking about but it is similar I suppose. This occurred first with my father's friend that I was close to when I was a kid, then my Uroma (great grandmother) and then a friend of mine who jumped off a bridge while being chased by the cops.
well of course i know its not just possible, i mean i've run into people in my dreams, going about their perfectly ordinary business, who i know when i'm awake are no longer living in this tangible realm, but i also think this is one of those things people tend to make way bigger of a deal out of it then it needs to be.
I had a neighbor that we grew up together it was about four of us and two of them just left did there own lifes and me and him stood in the apartment complex well after a while about five years ago me and diego that's his name we stoped talking he got into doing he's own thing drugs and all that well recently about february he passed away he overdozed and it hit me because we grew together and I never told him good bye. Well recently I had a dream about him that we were talking like friends. So I know its possible. It just happends
I believe it is possible...... I have had several dreams where im talking to a loved one (I can see them,etc) I do believe it is!!
i think i stopped breathing once, and in the dream i was having, my dad was telling me that i had to wake up.... i was laying down on the settee and he was standing behind me with his hands on my shoulders.... my hands were gripping his fingers, like they did when i was a baby... as i woke up, gasping for air, i could see him clearly... i was still squeezing his fingers and could feel him... as i let go, he disappeared and i was still alive... i used to see lots of dead people in my waking state... but that hasn't happened for about 6 years now...
