I've spent the past year on the anybody but Bush bandwagon, bad-mouthing him as a corrupt moronic stooge who has ruined the economy and gotten us into a quagmire in Iraq. His convention was the most heavily protested one in history! And yet he gets re-elected.

How much longer will the Republicans be able to milk this so-called war on terrorism to their advantage?

Anyway, I've lost interest. My attitude is, most Americans wanted Bush back for four more years, well they got it and they can live with it. True, I have to live with it too, but it's turned into defeatist acceptance.

Maybe in time I'll get back into things, especially when Dubya's next great outrage/scandal/fuckup occurs. And I still have a little hope for a new Watergate! But for right now I say, "Four more years? Fuck it!"

Well, the election was basically a referendum on how stupid Americans are more than anything else. It's difficult for me to be upset, because I feel like these idiots are getting exactly what they deserve, and I still feel like Kerry wouldn't have stopped the suffering caused by the US in the rest of the world (even if he had really tried, he wouldn't have been able to). Maybe it's better this way - the world now knows for sure that America is home to the most idiotic morons on the planet, so maybe it will convince people to elect leaders in their own countries who pledge not to comply with the US.

The only thing that I can say is this whole process has made me pay a lot more attention to local politics - that which my influence is much stonger. On a local level, the labels, Republican, Democrat mean much less and the issues take more of a center stage. Am I pissed about what happened in this last national election - sure I am!! Without a doubt. But truly, the whole process has lead me to buy much more into the whole concept of acting locally and thinking globably. don't lose interest....the big big world is made up of many small worlds, put your energy in your small world and hope for the best on the global scale is my only suggestion for ya'

    1) the election was stolen, so I don't think it is fair to say America wanted four more years of Bush.

Anyways, people shouldn't just tune in during election years. The damage is done between elections. There is enough happening every day for me to remain highly interested in politics and current events. I don't expect that will ever change for me.

Please realize that you can still make a great difference just with your lifestyle. Voting is one thing, but living your values is much more effective IMO. We can reduce our consumption. I am participating in Buy Nothing Christmas with the exception of two people I will get something for. I will not purchase corporate products though. Less is more. This Christmas might actually be enjoyable. Screw consumerism.

Oh, I guess americans are idiots for not wanting raised taxes, not wanting to pay more for gasoline, and wanting to stop terrorism from occuring. I by no means supported bush, infact i persuaded a number of people to vote for Badnarik. But lets face it, anyone who voted for Kerry was just as idiotic "Gee, I voted for the guy who has absolutely no stances on any issues and merely says what he thinks the majority of people will like. Thats okay though, because Bush is a bad speaker and has a funny sounding voice" Look at yourselves, in an attempt to fight the man you've become the bitch to another man.

So, under the Bush administration taxes haven't been raised, we're not paying more for gasoline and terrorism has been stopped?!

I am sick of this Democrat vs. Republican shit. Period.

99% of this country does not know SHIT about how the system works, ie: corrupts. Everyone is a slave to this left/right way of thinking, so it's no wonder why the country is so fucked up. People are not looking at the real issues that transcend party lines, because they're too busy conforming to their political labels instead of thinking beyond the perimeters of the two elite-ruled parties that control them.

Americans will eventually drown in their own stupidity, which will come in the form of Russian MP's breaking down their doors and throwing them in FEMA-built relocation camps. Of course this sounds FUCKING CRAZY to the average, uninformed, mass media-fed American, but, unfortunately, it could be a reality, and soon.

Then there won't be such things as Democrats and Republicans. There will only be a bunch of enslaved idiots who were too dumb to see the warning signs because they were too busy arguing over which party is better.

hence my growing focus on local politics as it is far more issue based then party based. granted there is still mud slingin' between parties at the smaller levels, but issues tend to outweigh things - a bit. I feel fortunate to be back home in Vermont where this is especially true - probably why it is perhaps the most progessive and forward thinking state in the nation.

    I think this is PROFOUND!

See the thing is -- he's absolutely correct.
The Left threw every single thing they could at the President, including lies, insults, and forged documents -- and they still lost.

    Their artillery is GONE.
They will not get it back.
And the left has so much less capital left to regroup with, that until they change into something entirely different, they are done as a valid political movement.

Hey thanks newo for the honesty. The sheer volume and intensity of everything that is wrong today is enough to put anyone with a conscience under for a bit. Personally I'm starting right here at home though. Not politically as in this mannequin vs the other mannequin but taking steps towards complete self sufficiency. In the future I think the phrase 'travel light' will serve those of us with a conscience well.

Yes! Losing your interest in this pathetic game called politics in America is one of the most liberating experiences you can have. I'm very glad that you're free from the indignant dogma of politics now, newo. Enjoy your newly found freedom, my friend.

    No not really.

Think of the enormous amount of money the leftist millionaires dished out this time -- George Soros alone handed over something like $25,000,000 dollars.

Think of the enormous amounts of time volunteers, and PAID STAFF spent rounding up new registered voters.

Think of the months of pounding the big artillery in the major networks did blasting Bush month after month after month -- even making some of it up when the ammo started to run short.

Think of the get-out-the-vote efforts, including, but not limited to slashing republican van tires in Milwaukee, charging and invading GOP campaign headquarters in {oh I forget where}, and hundreds of more legitimate get out the vote drives.

It was the liberal version of Pickett's Charge.
It was what Germany tried at the Battle of the Bulge.
And like those last-ditch all-out efforts to turn back the tide, It Failed.

The Left Can't Do it again, they certainly can't do it better, and it's over.

    Pear Tree IS Right.
    Give up politics.
Live simply and live in the now.

I never said that. But did John Kerry not plan on rasing taxes even higher and raising the price of gasoline higher than it allready is? And I think we are slowly making progress erasing terrorism. And for the record I never sympathised with Bush, just said that Kerry followers were just as naive and idiotic.

He wasn't implying that the left and the democrats were going to change anything, fuck them, he was talking about the people like us, who realize what bullshit partisan politics are, and are ready to take a stand.

    Peace and Love,
    Dan

In your dreams! The left will always be a valid political movement unless people like you elect a candidate from the Fascist Party! (I know some of you think Bush is already a member, but let's not go there.) As I said, the Republicans can't milk this war on terrorism forever!

Free from it? Not likely. I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan. Over the years people have told me, "Why? They'll never win the world series!" Through all the setbacks hope springs eternal, whether it's sports or politics. I'll be back, though I can't say when.

Hahha, yea! What I should have meant was- now you're a little more free from your passion, and now you can see a little more clearly. And that's a good thing. But then again, I don't even know you, and I'm really just describing my own experience. I'll be back, in politics, although it may be through the form of poetry or music or art.

Everyone, huh? No I don't think so. Those political labels are something you are quite fond of slapping on everyone. Just because we don't follow your example of prefacing each post we make with "Don't get me wrong, I hate both Dems and Republicans equally, I know they're both corrupt, I hate Michael Moron, I'm not aligned with either party, they're all phoney, I'm not a sheep.....etc....ad nausem.....
I guess I don't know why you feel the need to explain this....are you that paranoid that someone will label you? Do you care that much about what people think of you? I mean, I think your posts should be able to stand alone, if you truly are not influenced by the evil left or right, then this should be very apparent in your posts w/o a disclaimer. Right? Oh, I KNOW, you do sound just like anyone ON THE LEFT! Hence the need to clarify. ha ha:) Mystery solved, yay!
Look, many people who do consider themselves to be on the "left" are perfectly aware of the exact same things you post frequently about. They are. Maybe you don't hear about it....the MSM won't talk about the things they are talking about. They dictate the conversations which, of course, are bogus topics such as gay marriage, abortion, stem cell research, etc. Don't judge democrats by what you pick up from the MSM. Please.

People who are interested in politics are aware of this. The people who don't probably didn't even vote.
The elites may have power, but we outnumber them and always will, so I don't see how some of these more outrageous claims can come into fruition.
