Google has responded to Chinese hackers by threatening to close their chinese site altogether. Google.cn was attacked by Chinese Gov't hackers who were attempting to access dissident email accounts on google servers.

Google has already bent over backwards for the Chinese by censoring their website's search results according to the desires of the Chinese Gov't.

They are going to discuss this with the Chinese officials and say that if their demand to end this censorship, and to stop hacking google servers, isn't met, they will stop doing business in China!

Now THAT's what I call a very expensive threat (for google)!

Google says some proprietary information was compromised, so they also have a legal case against the Chinese gov't. And you can easily believe GOOGLE knows who hacked their computers, without any doubt!

It's only a case if it is against cn law. You can see where im going.

And Google droping the cn market wont do them any harm. They were fine before it. (The big G aint #1 everywhere.)

There's a lot more to this story than appears on the surface. For one thing, Google's biz in china ain't doin' so great, they have stiff competition and were losing ground to rivals.

But more importantly this brings up a big security issue for Google and the 33 other companies that were hacked by China. They all seem to have BACKDOORS into personal data via the automated subpoena system that big tech companies have placed so law enforcement can view private data via subpoena. It's these backdoors that have opened up the once very private data into the hands of hackers.

So anyone using G-Mail or any other google service, or from these other companies is much more likely to have their accounts hacked or viewed by unauthorized people because these companies have made it EASY to do!!!

And everyone here should know that FACEBOOK=CIA. It's a CIA funded project from nearly the start.

So if you want your gov't, hackers and other ne'er-do-wells accessing your personal data, then for sure get an G-Mail account so they can have easier access!

    I would of thought...

They can only take what you give.

and FB=CIA yeah ok, In that case HF=Mormons !

That is hardly proof that the CIA created or or is directly involved with facebook.

    You're a communist. I KNOW you are because your sister's father-in-law's friend's cousin was a communist.

The logic used by that video to prove that the CIA is behind facebook is about as sound as, and very similar to, the logic I just used to prove that you're a communist.

That said, I'm sure theres still a lot of truth to the whole thing. Whether facebook was originally intended to be used this way or not, you'd have to be a fool to think that there isn't some government agency scouring facebook for every potentially useful bit of information they can find this very minute.

depends on where the servers are located that were hacked.

if it's against U.S. law, and the servers were in the U.S. (very easy, hell google may even have set things up so that you have to go through a U.S. server to locate anything secure in foreign nations as a contingency) google has at least a civil case against the chinese government (you might remember hitler's IP case in the US about the publishing of mein kamph)

and google's intellectual privacy is some of the most valuable on earth.

Not to mention Google currently holds title as the main Ad provider for a largely profitable amount of the internet
