Mine's run down a little. I got water spots on the ceilings, electricity from the fortys, extremely drafty, no storm windows or screens, leaky basement, STILL smells like the previous tennants' dogs even after 1.25 years. they tried to keep the wood trim on the baseboards and doorframes, but didnt mask it off when they painted, so there's paint spots all over the damn place, missing bricks in the porch asshole neighbors only bathroom is upstairs the only thing good about it is that its got three bigass bedrooms, attic, basement, separated living/dining/kitchen, front/back porch, semi-private back yard, all for $525 a month
neighbor cut a hole in the fence to cut down a tree he didn't like, and he didn't think he was trespassing because he didn't pass through the gate that says "no trespassing" on it.... do you REALLY have asshole neighbors?
he got away with it because the county DA was too fucking lazy to do her job and didn't see a trespassing case as worth her time..... she said there wasn't enough evidence even though he had the whole tree in his yard, the remnants of the fence, had left trash in our yard, and he confessed in his side of the police report.
you know that guy in the neighborhood who never fixes anything until its falling off ...and parks on the grass...rakes the leaves with a lawnmower...tills up the grass just because its fun to use a tiller....thats me
it's a 1991 Land Rover Discovery that can be anywhere at anytime and can get me a loooong way away from people I don't want to be around and it has a solar panel on the roof and it has all those "necessities" ... cd/dvd, laptop. inverters, tv, adult magazines and the rest .... guitars, kitchen, comfy chairs ........... tools ....... you get the picture.
I have a neighbor who hates my tree too(one tree that is near his driveway)...he rakes the leaves that fall in his yard and pitches them over the fence into my driveway...he doesnt seem to care about all the leaves from his five or six trees in his backyard that drop into my backyard though. we even gave him permission to cut it down and he said yes but then backed out when he found out how much tree service costs...every single problem he has ever had with his house is my trees fault...his shingles got old because the tree...his driveway cracked because of the tree...leaky foundation because of the tree..(there were NO roots even close when they dug ) I saw some insurance cleanup crew there a few days ago...Im guessing my tree somehow managed to unplug the power to his sump pump again
The place itself is an awesome old victorian, but it's pretty run down. I've got the first floor, and the back yard. The location makes up for all the shitty maintenance though.....I'm right in the middle of the coolest part of the city. Walking distance to almost everything and there are always random parties all over the neighborhood. It's a perfect first apartment.
I love my house! It is a two-story, seven bedroom house with a huge yard and surrounded by redwood forest and I live there with just one other person. It's really old and kind of crazy looking, but it has a lot of personality.
My home is lovely! It's a little stonewall cottage, over 150 years old with awesome fireplaces and original wooden beams. My husband and I did it up last year so it looks all kinds of nice now, before that this place was very run down and like it was stuck in the 1940s.
see, now this is where you can have some fun without worry of the DA getting involved. but i'm an asshole like that and wouldn't mind really pissing someone off that deserves it. my house is pretty good. needs a bit of work - its old and my grandpa did a lot of the work himself...so its not all that great. its very drafty now that we ripped up the carpet, but i'm slowly getting to fixing that. I found out where a major hole was, now just a matter of time before I fix it. Then it'll just be the smaller cracks and the windows that are the problem. I'd buy it if i could - its a 3 story house, separated into a 2 family. First family (my grandmas apt) has the first floor, a basement and the attic. We have the top 2 floors. and We have a yard. One of the bigger properties in the area when you combine the house and yard (2 separate properties on paper). but yea, if i could afford to buy it, I would. I'd gut it and rebuild again.
I've told my landlord that I would do all kinds of different work to my place to fix it up, if he'd just come down on my rent or something but he won't go for it. I don't have the motivation to use my time and money fixing someone elses house so he can charge more for rent late. I'll be looking for another place in the area come springtime anyway
