Has anyone here ever gone to Humboldt State University? I've been thinking about transferring there. I wouldn't call myself a hippie, but a lot of people tell me there are a lot of them up there. I'm not opposed to hippies or anything though.
tons of hips up there. haha it's absolutely gorgeous in northern ca. I loovvvee it. and you can drive into Oregon, where there's no sales tax! and they pump your gas for you!
Hmm...I'm thinking about going. It's either Humboldt or San Francisco State. Really leaning toward Humboldt. I'm afraid I wouldn't fit in up there though. Grew up around too many yuppies.
humboldt is great lots of hippies n lots of weed plus the trees n the beach its like heaven till they kicked me out of the country cause weed:deadxmas:
I prefer San Francisco, but Humboldt is certainly an awesome place. I have lots of friends who live up there and love it.
I am currently living in Arcata which is where Humboldt is at. It is a great place to live, but it is not all hippies. There are many different kinds of people here just like anywhere else. I'm sure you would fit in perfectly fine. I have one degree from Humboldt and I am trying to finish my second. It is a great school and the faculty are amazing.
I've heard it's a beautiful place. Have you seen any mountain lions? They're not a big problem there, are they? I've heard about a few mountain lion sightings.
A mountain lion came onto campus a few years ago. Also someone got attacked by one but they managed to kill it.
i wanna go there!!!!! i heard the campus is between the beach and the forest? +hippies+college. how can it get any better?
There are lots of woods around here so there are definitely wild animals around. Yeah, from the campus you can look out and see the ocean and there are redwoods all around. Very pretty.
There are plenty of wealthy young yuppies there now as well...not sure what you're used to but it'd be an education, right? Plus, you may never get the chance to live there after college. There are few jobs and stuff...so I say: take the chance, get out of your 'comfort zone' and experience something new.
I go to Humboldt state, its pretty nice, my backyard is a redwood forest. Arcata is a very liberal town with a small town feel and has a town square with a farmers market every saturday. The class sizes are small and the school itself is quite affordable in terms of tuition etc. If anyone wants too know more feel free to pm me!
I lived in the arcata community forest for about a month or so and never once encountered a animal that i had to worry about my safety around....exept for those damn evil racoons in the marsh
