henna haircolor on conventionally dyed hair?

i wanna make the switch to henna haircolor, or at least something a little less toxic than the conventional. has anyone made the switch with already dyed hair? is there anything i have to do to make sure the new color will come out right, etc? thanks! ~namaste~

 

I haven't done it. But from what I have been told and what I have seen in my school's salon. When you are coloring your hair with henna dye if you are going a lighter shade there is a good chance your hair is going to come out a orange color.
The only dyes that have lots of toxic in them are the ones you buy at like your local store. The ones in the salon even tho it cost more are much better for your hair.
I just wanted to let you know about the henna dye because my friend had a client that came in last week and her hair was bright orange and she worked on the girl for 3 hours

 

I've been wondering the same things and had actually looked up some brands online.

I did however find Herbitant and Naturtint that are non-henna permanent dyes. Maybe look into those? If & when you try something, make sure to let me know how it goes!

 

I dyed my dyed hair with henna! I dyed it blonde and then henna red, but before you run to the stores mind you, wait six weeks between the dyes, because your hair can turn orangy green.
My hair came out a very natural orange red. But I waited a few weeks after the blonde dye.

 

Try to use Wella. It is a good hear dye..

 

the darker your hair is now, the darker the henna will be. blonde hair turns a very coppery red, almost like naturally red hair with standard red henna, with dark red henna it's a deeper, less orangey red

my hair is medium brown and using dark red henna i get the exact deep dark red i always wanted

definately wait at least 6 weeks since dying with any other kind of hair colour before doing henna, 8 to 12 weeks is safest because what spacechive said about it possibly turning orangey green is true

good luck i love my hennaed hair and have never looked back but i was nervous taking the first plunge!
