Has anyone seen this film? it's pretty cool, i love the way the story goes backwards and how it develops (it reminds me of "irreversible, great film too). sadly i missed the end cos i feel asleep (nos cos it was boring but i was really tired) but i read on the internet what happened. i got to buy the dvd.
anyway, what did you guys think about it?

great movie. i analysed it to death last year for a film studies course. another great movie by the same director is "following". same type of style. if you liked one you'll like the other.

Good movie, but don't feel bad if you missed the end. It ends just like it would probably start if it went forwards... very abrupt and disappointing.

If you get the DVD, there's a special feature in which you can watch the film in chronological order and not all spliced up, back to front, in the way it was originally shown...

I kind of thought it was ok when I first saw it but that's just for the novelity factor of the effects.
It's rather dull when you think of it, "Memento" minus the reverse storytelling technique is an average thriller. I don't think I'll watch it again.

I saw "Irreversible" in the theaters, I had an vague idea as to what it's all about. I just read that it got a lot of attention in Cannes for certain scenes. It's true the movie owes a lot to "Memento", actually they ripped it off. The famous nine minutes anal rape scene was pretty much embarrassing to watch but I give them credit for trying to show something new and artistic i.e. the rotating camera shots and the bizarre angles, even though you'll get a headache after a while. They used a lot of digital effects, that amazing fire-extinguisher scene was done with a dummy and heavy digital editing.
I think it's just another film that will be remembered for it's shock value.

I really liked Momento. The reverse order of each scene is really cool.

i definaitly wouldn't say it was brilliant. it was one of those movies i was glad i rented and saw once but it's not the kind of movie i would buy and watch again and again.

I think 'Memento' is rather brilliant! A good 8 or 9 out of 10 for me. As has been said, the fact it's all reversed is a lovely stroke for such a story. But other than that it's just so funny!...

    "Hmm...I don't feel drunk"
"What am I doing? Oh I'm chasing this guy. (Gunshot). No...He's chasing me"
"I don't mind your condition...I can keep telling the same jokes"

    And on and on :)

I've got the DVD with the option to watch it forwards, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Doesn't seem right at all.
