Has anyone read this? It's Friedrich Nietzsche's masterpiece. It's an amazing, amazing piece of literature. It was probably one of the most important books in my life, so naturally, I really reccomend it to anyone who's interested.

I bought it recently but haven't yet had time to read it. Hopefully I'll get the chance soon.

Please do antithesis. It is quite, quite amazing. It is very dense though, it took me over a month to read it, so take your time. It's the kind of book you really don't want to rush through.

I totally agree with you God it is an excellent book. My brother gave it to me when I was 16 and I still read parts of it all the time three years later. Nietzsche was an amazing philospher

I tried, but the misogyny got to me... I couldn't handle it... I lasted quite a ways thru it, maybe 1/2-3/4 of the way. But I just couldn't take it anymore... LOL

Yea, he was sort of an anti-feminist. You kind of have to look past a lot of what he says, remember, Nietzsche was sort of a bitter and lonely man, and some of his writings are sort of ravings. But he was brilliant, no doubt about that.

    I don't like him at all. I think he was a proto-facist.

Perhaps. But I don't think I'm capable of understanding such a man, and have merely taken what I learned from his writings. He was sort of born before his time, to say the least.

I tried. I really, really tried. I looked past it for several days. But I finally broke. I couldn't take it anymore... LOL

The name Zarathustra is another name for Zoroaster, Persian prophet 2000b.c?

Founder of Zoroastrianism, a religion of pre-Islamic Persia, that survives today only in some parts of India. Followers today are called Parsees. It is an hereditary religion - you can't become a parsee. Most famous Parsee of recent times is probably Freddie Mercury of Queen.
Why did Nietsche use the name?
No idea. There is nothing in common with what he says and the teachings of the original Zarathustra.

Jesus, a hell of a find you found there Morna. I think Zarathustra was in actuallality, an expression of Friedrich Nietzsche in real life. He just sort of used a fictional character to sort of express his own philosophy, within the framework of a beautiful piece of fiction, and sort of a religious parable as well.

Fascists are to Nietzsche's Ubermensch, as We are to those brave few who are fully alive and fully awake--Mere Shadows!!

The Dionysia, is the uninhibited, unrestrained, female-centric orgiastic frenzy that is the very core-marrow of Nietzsche's whole existential philosophy of life.

Nietzsche warn us against the herd-bound slave morality of passive-aggressive resentment and frustration that seduces the weak, especially women.

Nietzsche's point is their very lack of anything in common.
Nietzsche reintroduces Zarathustra, the originator of Mono-theism, and shows him reborn into a prophet of Anti-theism; now, 'Each is lord unto Himself'.

Great post m6m. It informed me to a few things that I was unaware of before in Nietzsche's writing.

Nietzsche was really just a bitter man... I find his theories very interesting, but only because he continually contradicts himself and it's all such a chaos... there are feminists who base their theories on his, but there are feminists who despise his theories... I think there's a thin line between madness and genius, but Nietzsche was probably more of a madman than a genius.

I read Thus Spoke Zarathustra and tbh I don't agree with Nietzches whole philosophy, I think he was full of shit, then again I don't agree with most of the existentialist stuff anyway.

He said that the cure for all of women's problems is to have a child. And he said that women are incapable of true friendship.

I found this to be incredibly insulting.

If you enjoy his work, I'm glad for you. But I do not-and that's okay.
