The Rain Song On the Tiles No Quarter What is and what should never be Whole Lotta Love they were the first 5 i thought of and really like a lot
Haha alright I'll do it.We listened to them on vinal last week while I was drunk. Most of it had me spacing haha.Easy Star Allstars Dub Side of the Moon is siiiiick.
Zeppelin and Floyd are both easily in my top 5. Go watch a video of Pink Floyd in their prime - they are goddamn wizards.
battle of the evermore (so cool to listern to when your stoned) ramble on stairway to heaven over the hills and far away misty mountain hop
I've never been good at suggesting music, but maybe something like King Crimson's album Red. I would put that album up against Led Zep's greatest hits and it's still win out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wMFk7DODYE&feature=related"]YouTube- King Crimson Starless Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Te70JSLwTQ&feature=related"]YouTube- King Crimson Starless Part 2
I know you are not a Zep fan, and King Crimson is a great band, but they don't compare. Zeppelin's first 4 albums were all BADASS. King Crimson had one BADASS album, the first one(edit: I haven't listened to all their records including Red). I listened to Wake, Lizard, and Islands: those aren't great records. Pink Floyd and the Beatles and even Tool can compare because they have multiple BADASS albums. Stop me if I am being too technical..
Well I was trying to give a band that she may like from the same era, but I agree they don't compare, King Crimson were way more talented than LedZep haha. But ya if you don't like King Crimson - Red, then we clearly just listen to music differently, which is cool and happens. And a lot of bands I listen to have a long career of making consistently good albums, like Neurosis, Death, Yes, Meshuggah, Opeth.. I don't think LedZep are bad just vastly overrated.
Meh the Who have have a few good songs, but are sorta overrated. They aren't even comparable to Zeppelin.
Ya I am more familiar with Led Zeppelin than The Who but I remember buying Who's Next when I was 12 or 13, and I liked Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again. That's the extent of it, and I don't really remember their other songs. I haven't listened to them in years.
I've never listened to Neurosis, Death, Meshuggah, or Opeth. So we obviously like different music! As far as "Yes", they are very talented, but they just didn't put together amazing albums. They also never had a great singer. I love some of their songs and I'm sure they would have been great live... I never said I didn't like Red, I never listened to it. I didn't like Crimson's 3 albums they put out after their awesome Court of the Crimson King album. I gave King Crimson plenty of opportunities..they are definitely hit and miss imho. I guess if you are not a fan you can easily call them overrated but c'mon. They had the best male rock singer of the 70s. They had one of the best guitarists of the time, and their drummer was no greenhorn either so.. I mean, they signified everything about rock and roll..they were the perfect band. I am not knocking King Crimson I am just saying they are not in my top 5; probably in my top 20. They did put out ho-hum albums, go listen to Lizard if you don't believe me. Talent alone does not produce a great album.
led zeppelin is underrated in some ways.. i don't think they are often seen for their entire journey and talents/innovation as separate musicians...
Today was the first day i have ever heard of King Crimson, i listened to them a bit and i like them. and zeppelin is not overrated.
Whether or not LZ is overrated depends on whom you ask. Some of the live audiences during the first year didn't appear too impressed with them but that's probably because they were at what had been initially slated as a Yardbirds European tour... but the band broke up and Page was stuck with some obligations. This was most likely the only reason the band got together in the first place I imagine most of the were expecting something a little different from what they got. Do a search for the Yardbirds and you'll get a sense of the differences in style and why the heavier Zeppelin sound may not have been everyone's cup of tea. This is likely part of why they had some difficulty gaining popularity in England when they first got going. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58mQvW0ROag"]Yardbirds- Dazed And Confused
