Found this in our most recent Sunday Paper - interesting! http://www.parade.com/health/2010/01/03-barefoot-running.html
Thanks. Another great article similar to the one posted by Kazuya5611! I am sold on barefoot running but sure hope this catches on. I am tired of the strange looks!
I've posted this link before a number of times on this forum, but it's worth repeating: http://runningbarefoot.org/ Lots of good information on running barefoot.
I was on the parking lot shuttle when a woman about my age started asking about my Vibram Fivefingers. She wanted to know if they're comfortable (Yes!!) and if I've ever run in them (No). She then talked about how she's read that barefoot running is supposed to be healthier for your feet. I told her I'd heard the same thing but don't have any personal experience. I told her that the Vibrams are designed to simulate being barefoot and that I don't wear shoes weather permitting. She said she's the same way (I've always contended most people are barefooters at heart). I mentioned that I often go barefoot to the airport. She seemed intrigued by that statement but didn't comment much. About that time a lot more people got on the shuttle and we dropped our discussion.
I wish I was into running. I would def try it barefoot. it seems to only make sense. maybe just trying skateboardind (the just get around kind) wud be more my speed. I do have a 1 person rowing shell which i obviously do barefoot, does that count?
