I am interested in learning lucid dreaming but I am an avid weed smoker. Would this inhibit my ablity to learn how to lucid dream because I always have trouble remembering my dreams when I smoked that day.
i dont know there is much debate...but i can see how you would be overly sedated while you are sleeping.
Very good question. As an avid weed smoker myself I am sure that it does inhibit to be able to have lucid dreams. However, your ability to have lucid dreams depends on how vivid your dreams are. If you have vivid dreams you are a good candidate to have lucid dreams. Weed or not. For myself, I find that if I stop smoking for a while, say a few months, I start having vivid dreams. However, in a few more months it goes back to normal. I rarely remember my dreams. I have had only one lucid dream. It easier said then done. Anyway I wish you good luck and I hope you are successful.
A while back I was way into lucid dreaming, I heard and agree that THC inhibits REM sleep which is when your deepest sleep occurs. Myself, when I smoke pot I do not or hardly recall dreams. Not as much when sober for several days. But we are interested in lucid dreaming, not recall. I successfully lucid dreamed twice, once when I was off pot for 2 weeks (I find that when you are a casual smoker and restrain for 2-3 complete days that is when the dreams are most vivid) and about 6 months later on a heavy smoking stretch. On both these occasions I was trying to lucid dream. People react and metabolite to drugs differently, keep that in mind. Have you tried a lucid/sleepy tea? I find a mix of Valerian, Chamomile and sweet gale brew is an awesome for a deep sleep which definitively helps for lucid dreaming. Keeping a journal is critical.
where do i get this tea? and im going to try to learn it now because i'm grounded for the next month so i can't smoke.
Making your own brew is ideal, just steep whatever sleeping herbs you can get at your local whole food store. If your purchasing from a grocery store, I like something like this: http://www.celestialseasonings.com/products/detail.html/herbal-teas/sleepytime but you would want to also brew a herb that is said to induce lucid dreaming, such as sweet gale, valerian (I had success with this one) or tumeric, there are various ones, see what is local. If your taking your tea with milk then you would want to heat the milk with the tea in the saucepan near but not boiling, let the milk oxidize. This creates a chemical change in the compound of milk and is also said to make sleepy.
Brew some datura tea. It's like lucid dreaming except you're awake the whole time while you're dreaming. Make sure to write Datura on the front and back of your palms so you don't forget your under the influence of it and remember you dreaming awake lol I'm just kidding prolly not a good idea it can be dangerous, and if hooded people jumping out of your walls telling you to do things to people who really arn't there isnt your thing your gonna have one HELL of a time. Also beware the 12 metre long centipedes crawling outta your boombox lol Seriously though i've lucid dreamed on a couple occasions on my own and before smoking a bowl right before bed, but it's not a sure thing. Try something like doing an excercise every night before bed(EVERY NIGHT). I't takes awhile but this trains your brain to respond to that certain behaviour and it can trigger you to be able to better know when you're dreaming; also try to get in to a routine of going to bed at the same time each night I find that can help to. Still though I don't lucid dream erery night, it's a hard thing it is x.x
