The term 'faggot'

So I was thinking about this term 'faggot' and a faggot is technically a bundle of sticks right?

So I was thinking about, why the hell did people start calling homosexuals a bundle of sticks? Then it dawned on that it is because homosexuals essentially bundle sticks. You see what I mean?

A faggot IS a bundle of sticks, so one who bundles sticks could also loosely be called a faggot.

So this term really is not derogatory at all in the real sense of it's definition.

So when someone is like "FAGGOT" you could be all like "Thats right, I bundle sticks." "I'm a stick bundler, mmmm mmmm"


OR there could of been a bunch of homosexuals standing in a clump, or like all in like a gay bar. And that could technically be called a 'bundle of sticks'. And so someone shouted out FAGGOT, pertaining to all the homosexuals together, making a 'bundle of sticks', and it's been misconstrued all these years to be derogatory, and refer to an individual homosexual. When really, it's meant to be applied to a group of homosexuals, a bundle of sticks, and is quite literally the definition.

'Faggot' would be a really good name for a gay bar, because the gay bar would essentially be, 'a bundle of sticks'. Or they could just get clever and name the gay bar 'A Bundle of Sticks'.

 

A lot of words are not derogatory in their literal terms.
Thus the existence of slang terms.

 

I heard it was originally used to slander homosexuals during Nazi Germany's party days, I guess because they would burn a great deal of the bodies.

 

i read its from the 1600s and was used to describe an old lady carrying a bundle of twigs-then it went on to describe the twigs themselves and so on...

 

Regardless of its etymology, "faggot" is a derogatory term in its present day usage. Gay or str8 or whoever, you simply do not want to use it.

But yes, the word may have been poached, but then it can't be helped. Gay was stolen to describe homosexual people after all. All in all, sticks and stones heh. Being called faggot is nothing and people shouldn't worry about it. It's urban usage is to call someone gay, so what's the big deal? Many still call inuits Eskimo's and there has yet to be a revolution. there was a case a few years back where a guy killed another because he'd made fun of his (the killers) name-which was Gay-the dude was in his 50s, you think he'd have learned to live with it by that point-or get it changed...

What I heard was that the bundle-of-sticks faggots are used as tinder to light bonfires. And that in medieval Europe a homosexual was often burned as the pre-show to the main event of a witch burning. So homosexuals were equivalent to tinder, lighting the fire for witch executions... therefor "faggots".

 

I've always believed it derived from a time when homosexuals would be burned alive, and a faggot referred to the bundle of sticks burning beneath them. I assume that eventually the term was directly associated with homosexuals.

You know whats kind of fucked up about the whole burning faggots, homosexuals, and burning witches things. Homosexuals are completely released of any lawful incarcerations and killings at this day and age. But witches are still thrown in prison in the US, in some countries even still hanged. And by witch I'm meaning, witch doctor, shamanic types, as in witches were psychedellic plant users. In some countries, if your caught with enough psychedellic plants of certain types, you can be killed. Your even barred from a high percentage of jobs for being a witch via drug testing. It doesnt matter what the actual meaning of a word is. Its the intention behind it that matters.
Many words have meant many things through history. Word meanings can change over time. For example take the word gay -used to mean happy, then the meaning changed to homosexual and now a lot of ignorant people are using it in a pejorative way which many gay people including myself resent. Using the word gay to mean lame or stupid etc is like using the word jewish to me stingy. Its plain wrong and anyone who doesn't think so is in denial.

If my friends call me fag Im ok with that because i know my friends love me and mean no harm however if a bunch of rednecks yell out fag on the street it takes on a whole new meaning.

 

Well I was wrong. Many of you said Pochikuen was a troll but I thought that he was just confused or suffering the influences of fundementalism of some kind. I have banned pochikuen for 6 months. If in fact he is not a troll he can learn to commnicate more effectively during that time. I gotta give credit here, as a troll he's got a damn good act and incredible patience. Don't feel too bad about tolerating Poch, Yarapario. He was a very talented troll. For a long time, I fell for it completely. He was ignorant, irritating, and offensive... but he appeared to be one of ours and needed help healing his internalized homophobia. Firstly thanks to Yarapario for banning Pochikuen. I like freedom of speech and to hear all sides of a debate but one less wing nut on the forums is a good thing and I hope it was an IP ban.

Secondly in response to his unsuprisingly misinformed post that got him banned regarding the so called "gay agenda".
This is a term that Ive never liked because the only "agenda" gay people have ever had is to live a life free from ostracism, persecution, torture and in some cases execution for being themselves and who they were born to be.
Yes thats right I use the word 'born' and not the word 'chose' as many wing nuts such as Pochikuen would have everyone believe because homosexuality is about as 'chosen' and 'lifestyle' as heterosexuality. IE-its not chosen at all but is part of a persons biological makeup. Do heterosexuals choose their sexuality? No, neither do homosexuals.
Do you really think that any sane person would "choose" to live a life in which they would be persecuted or ostracised etc?

This argument that gay people want to somehow turn everyone or every "young boy"(quote unquote-pochikuen) gay is not only insulting but also laughable. For starters it infers that gay men are all preying on young boys which is about as true as all heterosexual men are preying on young girls.
Sure young men and women may experiment with their sexuality, even older men and women do. However this has always been so and says more about the true nature of human bisexuality than it says about any "gay agenda".

We have come a long way over the years Pochikuen. We arent living in the 50's anymore when people were shamed for touching their own genitals and in the same way people are free to find out for themselves without guilt what their own orientation is.
In the end it doesnt matter what you stuck up your bum when you were 16. If youre truly heterosexual you are heterosexual. No-one is capable of turning anyone gay. Firstly this statement is ridiculous because the gay movement started in the 60's and was well on its way by 1980. However as most educated people know homosexuality goes way beyond the gay years. Some say homosexuality is in fact as old as mankind.
Im sure the questions young men ask themselves were still asked before the gay movement came about but only in a much more self destructive and self loathing form such as "whats wrong with me? am I insane? am I a sinner condemned to hell for eternity? should I kill myself?"

How do I know this? Because I was going to kill myself when I was 17. I was being persecuted by the age of fucking four!! It started in preschool for me. Sick fuck teachers thinking they could knock the queerness out of me by shaming me at four years old!! How did they know I was queer? Well of course I wasnt sexually active but I was different to most of the other boys from the get go. Instead of nurturing my difference they feared it and attempted to destroy it.
This psychological and later physical bashing went on throughout my entire schooling perpetrated by teachers and students alike. I internalised it and eventually I was crushed and suicidal. Obviously I didnt kill myself instead I went on to a self destructive life of drugs which Im proud to say I also survived. Ive had years of therapy to try and heal my wounds but Im scarred. I live with it now but I dont let it define me and I dont let it destroy me.
When I hear people like you Pochikuen spouting such damaging ignorance I just feel so sad inside for all the kids coming into this world that still in this day and age are going to suffer and have to battle with such destructive and unnecessary ignorance.



All Gay people want is equality. A world that accepts diversity which is completely natural and can be seen in most other species on the planet. A world with equality for all. Why anyone would want kids to grow up in a hate filled bigoted world that tries to shame, conform and box everyone is beyond me. Why would anyone want to teach the children hatred and fear??
I only have one answer for that and sadly its - the bible (or its equivalent eg-The Koran) That old book that so many people have misinterpreted like chinese whispers for thousands of years to suit or validate their own prejudices and misguided , uneducated false belief system.

End of the day if you dont like living in a society that allows people equality, peace and freedom then go live in Iran or Uganda or some other such hellish backward shithole.
