hi, has anyone done this? or doing it right now? anyone got any advice for someone looking into it? namaste
I'm looking into it too. All I know is, a college degree is good. and also, to be certified, there is a course you can take, which usually lasts about a month, which will certify you as an ESL teacher. Depending on the country, a little knowledge of said language is beneficial too. for example, if you want to go to France, it is almost mandatory that you have at least taken a year or two of French..and can speak at least a moderate level...some countries are more lax and don't require any certificates or knowledge of their language, but pay will be A LOT less without a certificate.
It's just a rumor foreign traffickers in black market donor organs made up to lure young, healthy, naive kids.
I'm fairly sure this wouldn't be one of the words you'd be teaching them...Other than that, I couldn't help you much.
I study Spanish in college and plan on doing something like this whenever I get out of school. I'd like to hear some experiences and information as well!
I did it before in Russia for about 3 months, and i am gonna do it again there soon for a longer period. I don't have TESL, TESOL, or whatever they call it these days or even a college degree yet. I am still a student. Its not a lot of money, but it can be quite rewarding in the sense that you have a job that you actually enjoy, though it can be difficult to prepare all the lessons 100%. As far as certificates in Russia and salaries (not Moscow though, didnt spend much time there), I didn't notice any difference in salaries of Russian teachers of the English language (with degrees) and foreigners like me...hell I got a bit more than they did.
I was correct in some respects. It depends on the country though. China is wicked easy to go to, and you don't need a teaching certificate such as CELTA or TEFL. I am working in China now. They need foreign teachers, come on over!
